Research On The Conflict Transformation Blocking-up Mechanism Of Major Mass Disturbance

In recent years, with the highly developing of China’s economy, thecontradiction occurs repeatedly, mass disturbance happens frequently. It is based onthe adjustment of the interest allocation pattern with the social transformation and onthe enhanced sense of citizenship and maintaining legal rights. To deal with massdisturbance and reduce its negative impacts, we must understand it rationally andrespond actively. To analyze the conflict transformation mechanism of major massdisturbance, to identify the key nodes of conflict transformation and establish theblocking-up mechanism of conflict transformation can refine the existing research onthe mass disturbance evolution mechanism. Its practical value is to provide a newperspective for the management of major mass disturbance, improve existinggovernance mechanism, make the government respond fast and intervene as soon aspossible, improve the disposal technology, block the conflict transformation of massdisturbance and reduce social losses.In this paper, the author utilizes the method of case study and literature study anduses the theories of crisis management, social psychology, communication, populationdynamics to construct the conflict transformation blocking-up mechanism of majormass disturbance. The contents are as follows:First of all, the author gives an overview of the conflict transformationblocking-up mechanism of major mass disturbance, which includes the conceptdefinition of major mass disturbance and the connotation analysis of the conflicttransformation blocking-up mechanism of major mass disturbance.Secondly, the author gives an overview of the event in Shishou, Hubei, exploresthe performance of the conflict transformation of Shishou event, which includes theshift of the conflict character, the rapid expansion of the scale of conflict, a qualitativechange in the nature of the conflict, the transition from non-violence to the violence.After that, the author uses Blumer’s Circular Reaction Theory to analyze the processof the conflict transformation of Shishou event, which is divided into collectivemilling stage, collective excitement stage and social contagion stage. With theories ofsocial psychology, communication and population dynamics, the author analysesthese three stages with two clues of the dissemination of information and the effect of the social psychological factors.Thirdly, the paper continues to use Shishou event as the example, analyzing thereasons for the failure of intervening in the conflict transformation process of the localgovernment, which include mismanaging detonators event, the lack of blocking-upflocking behavior and cluster effect.Finally, according to the factors chain theory, the author proposes establishingfeedforward control and feedback control mechanism of the conflict transformation ofmajor mass disturbance. Feedforward control mechanism includes building a dynamicplan preparing mechanism of mass disturbance, establishing a sound emergencycoordination mechanism of mass disturbance, constructing a sound emergencysafeguard mechanism for mass disturbance, establishing a sound informationmanagement mechanism of mass disturbance, constructing a social psychologicalmonitoring and soothing mechanism. To play the role of the feedback mechanism isbased on establishing feedforward mechanism. Feedback mechanism includesresponding to detonators event actively at the stage of collective milling, preventingthe flocking behavior occurring and expanding at the stage of collective exciting,blocking the cluster effect at the stage of social contagion. The author hopes toanalyze the critical work of the various stages and delete factors which make theconflict transform and block conflict transformation of major mass disturbance.
