Fu Gengsheng’s "Chinese General Theory Of Literary Criticism" Research

Research of Chinese literary criticism history in 20th century is different from previous studies. Scholars began to consciously undertake comprehensive research. Chinese Literary Criticism General Theory written by Gengsheng Fu is a unique book in 20th century. However, in the study of Chinese literary criticism, books by Shaoyu Guo and Genze Luo received more attention. Fu’s book has never been studied and discussed in system, and it plays a small role in Chinese literary criticism. Actually, its literary value is underestimated because it is not only helpful to the traditional literary theory and comparative poetics, but also its criticism concept of history won the dialogue of Western literary theory. Thus, system studies on Fu’s book can provide effective reference for the construction of Chinese literature criticism history.This paper integrates Chinese and Western theory, taking Fu’s book as a whole, studies presentation thinking of writing a systematic way, pure literature History and criticism History of Buddhism to the west by connecting history combing and phenomenon analysis. Also, its value to the construction of literary criticism history and limitation are explored.The structure of this paper includes a holistic grasp and text analysis. We try to combine history combing and theory analysis. There are 3 chapters except for the introduction. The introduction discusses the significance of research topics and the basic ideas. The first chapter explores the theory souce of Fu’s book from the background of national heritage and western thought involved in literary. The second chapter focuses on interpreting the concepts of literary history and criticism history in Fu’s book through text analysis and comparison. Chapter 3 places a case study approach, combining with Fu’s concepts of literary history and criticism history. Then the worth to the construction of criticism historiography can be concluded. On this basis, we may seek the way of studying Chinese criticism history.
