Objective 1.The present study was designed to investigate the effect of health intervention on the life quality of primary caregivers for patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.2.Study the relationship between the life quality of primary caregivers and the self-perceived burden of patients being taken care of by the caregivers.Method 1.Convenient sampling method was used to select 60 cases of primary caregivers for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in the lymphomatreatment center, Blood Disease Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciencesfrom October 2014 to July 2015 as research subjects.2. In accordance with the principle of completely random and using random number table method, the study subjects were randomly divided into control group(30 cases) and intervention group(30 cases). No health interventions were implemented on the research subjects in the control group. Six-week health interventions were implemented on research subjects in the intervention group including one to onehealth education, health education manual distribution, psychological intervention, musical therapy, exercise guidance, etc. Before the intervention, research subjects in the two groups and the patientsbeing taken care of by the research subjects were subjected to investigation using a questionnaire in general. Before the intervention and two time points atsix weeks after intervention, the research subjected in the two groups were accessed respectively by World Health Organization Quality of Life BREF(WHOQOL-BREF) Chinese version and the patients being taken care of by the research subjects were investigated by Chinese version of self-perceived burden scale(SPBS).3.All data were collected using Excel and analyzed using IBM SPSS 22.0 statistical software and statistical methods of χ2 test and t test. AP<0.05 was considered as statistically significant differences. The correlation of the relatedscale scores was subjected to correlation analysis.Result 1.Measurement data of research subject in the two groups were normally distributed with an overall homogeneity of variance(P> 0.05). Demographic data and baseline characteristics of the research subjects in the two groups showed no significant differences.2. Beforeintervention, total WHOQOL-BREF score as well as scores in all areas showed statistical significance between the two groups(P> 0.05).After six weeks of health intervention, the total WHOQOL-BREF score as well as scores in all areas were all larger in the research subjects of intervention group with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).3. Beforeintervention, Chinese version of SPBSscore in the patients taken care of by the research subjects showed no statistical significance between the two groups(P> 0.05). After the ending of the six-week intervention, the SPBS score in the patients taken care of by the research subjects in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group with statistically significant difference(P <0.05).4. Six weeks after the intervention, correlation analysis between the WHOQOL-BREF of research subjects in the two groups and SPB of the patients taken care of by the research subjects showed that after six weeks of health interventions, WHOQOL-BREF scale score of the research subjects in the intervention group was negatively correlated with the SPB scale score of the patients being taken care of by the research subjects(P<0.05), which indicated that higher scores of the quality of life of caregivers, the lower the self-perceived burden of patients being taken care of by the caregivers. Conclusion 1.In this study, a six-weekly series of planned health interventions were implemented on the primary caregivers of 30 patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The result showed that the health interventions can effectively improve the quality of life of primary caregivers and significantly lower the self-perceived burden of patients being taken care of by the caregivers.2.However, due to the fact that the selection of research subjects in this study were from primary caregivers for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in the lymphomatreatment center, Blood Disease Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the patients in the center were mainly patients with lymphoma, and thus whether the results of the study can be applied to the caregivers of patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation caused by other diseasesneeds further validation studies.
