Application Of Comfort Theory In Ultrasound Ablation Among Patients With Uterine Fibroids

Objective:To explore the effectiveness of application of Comfort Theory in ultrasound ablation among patients with uterine fibroids.Methods:1. One hundred patients were surveyed by Comfort Questionnaire of Ultrasound Ablation about their comfort level.2. Two hundred and ten patients with uterine fibroids were recruited. Patients were divided into the trial group(n=102) and the control group(n=108). Comfort care management and traditional care management were provided for the trial group and the control group,respectively. Comfort, postoperative pain(0.5h、2h、24h after operation)and satisfaction in both groups were investigated.Results:1.Patients’ holistic comfort was 81.83±10.91,physical comfort was 13.92±2.54, psycho-spiritual comfort was 24.06±3.59, social-cultural comfort was 27.56±3.56, environmental comfort was 16.37±3.38.2. Patients in the trial group had higher holistic comfort(93.22±9.56 vs. 81.90±10.68, p<0.05), higher physical comfort(12.33±2.06 vs. 11.01±2.17, p<0.05), higher psycho-spiritual comfort(27.45±2.74 vs. 23.57±3.56, p<0.05), higher social-cultural comfort(35.13±3.51 vs. 30.88±4.01, p<0.05) and environmental comfort(18.41±3.49 vs. 16.45±3.29, p<0.05) than those in the control group.3. Patients in the trial group had lower postoperative pain(3.72±1.70 vs. 4.25±1.71, p<0.05) at 0.5h,(2.95±1.82 vs. 3.50±1.80, p<0.05) at 2h,(0.58±0.89 vs. 1.03±1.01, p<0.05) at 24 h after operation than those in the control group.4. Patients in the trial group were more satisfied than those in the control group(9.58±0.93 vs. 8.81±1.16, p<0.05).Conclusion:1. Patients’ comfort level is moderate,which should arise attention by nurses.2. Comfort care based on Comfort Theory is effective in ultrasound ablation among patients with uterine fibroids.
