Objective: To know the distribution and constitute of economic burden of health administration population which have hypertension. Analyze the factor of health service utilization and hypertension economic burden.Method:Use face to face questionnaire to conduct the survey. The sampling method is multistage stratified cluster sampling. Collect the data of basic situation /the manner of outpatient and inpatient service/the economic situation. Describe the economic burden and its constitution. Analyze the factor from two parts: the service utilization and the medical treatment charge. Use chi-square test to analyze the former part and use variance analysis and rank sum test to analyze the later part.Result: The number of informant is 586. The average age of informants was old. Our study shows that the main hypertension burden of health administration population in Chongqing and Sichuan is the charge of ambulatory treatment, the treatment charge here account for great proportion. Among the non-medical charge, the expense for heal have a high proportion. A large proportion taken part in l indirect economic burden of our informant is the loss income of accompanying personal. Some factors affect the economic burden shows as follows: compare with the citizen the outpatient utilization /the charge of both outpatient and inpatient treatment/the direct burden of outpatient and inpatient treatment/the direct therapy cost and the sum of direct burden of resident significantly low. The indifference of degree of education may significant affect the outpatient utilization rate and outpatient economic burden. The single person households have significant lower outpatient utilization and its outpatient charge is significantly lower than the core family and stem family. When the wife or daughter become the pillar of the family, the inpatient utilization rate is significant lower than the others take respond for the pillar. When the son or the daughters become the pillar, the non-medical expense is significantly higher than the patient take respond. When the father or the husbands become the pillar, the non-medical expense is significantly higher than the others take respond. The number of family member is significant affect the direct economic burden.Conclusion: The economic burden of hypertension patient mainly from the treatment of outpatient therapy. The outpatient economic burden may need the most administration. The service utilization and economic burden of rural resident need specific focus. The follow study could probe the relationship of detailed family factor and the economic burden of hypertension.
