| Objective : To study the relationship and the biological significance between SOX2 expression level and clinicopathological features of breast cancer, SOX2 may be as a potential biomarker for predicting the prognosis of breast cancer. Methods : 121 cases of breast cancer specimens at Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Dalian University were collected from February, 2012 to May, 2015. The expression of SOX2 in breast cancer was detected by immunohistochemistry. The expression level of SOX2 was compared with age, pathological type, histological grade, vascular invasion, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, tumor stage, PR, HER-2, ER, Ki67. The relevant data was analyzed by χ2 test and Fisher’s precision test using SPSS 22.0 software and measurement data with the standard deviation indicated that alpha=0.05 level test. Results : SOX2 was mainly expressed in the nucleus of breast cancer tissues. The expression of positive staining showed brown yellow, which could be locally distributed or dispersed. SOX2 positive expression was 39(32.2%) in 121 cases. In the group of Ki67≥20%, the positive expression of SOX2 was 36 cases(37.9%). In the group of Ki67<20%, the positive expression of SOX2 was 3 cases(11.5%). The differences of the expression of SOX2 in the two groups has statistical significance(P<0.05). The expression level of SOX2 was not significantly associated with age, pathological type, histological grade, vascular invasion, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, tumor stage, ER, PR, HER-2.(P>0.05).Conclusion : SOX2 was expressed in breast cancer tissues. The expression level of SOX2 relatived to Ki67 level suggested that SOX2 might be a potential biological marker for predicting the prognosis of breast cancer. |
