| Objective:Voxel-based morphometry (VBM) with diffeomorphic anatomical registration through exponentiated lie algebra (DARTE) approach was used to examine the changes of structural brain in Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy (IGE) to provide anatomical basis for the pathogenesis of IGE.Methods:(1)There are 23 cases of IGE patients and 23 cases in control team, who have the matched data in age, sex, handedness and education level. (2)MRI part:Using the Holland PHILIPS Achieva 3.0T TX superconducting MRI scanner,8 channel phase front head circle for regular whole brain scan. The people who have organic brain disease must be excluded, and the people who have normal brain structure can in the process of magnetic resonance data acquisition, both groups have 3D T1WI data collection. (3)Data post-processing process:VBM-DARTEL methods were tested against the two sets of the image of gray matter volume of the brain structure by MRI, difference was statistically significant(p<0.001).Results:(1)The sex age and average years of education of two groups were no significant d ifference. Compared with the normal control group, cerebral gray matter volume ext ensively decreased in IGE patients. The regions with significant differences were a s follows:Left Rectal Gyrusã€Left Orbital Gyrusã€Left Middle Frontal Gyrusã€Left Inferior Frontal Gyrusã€Left Precentral Gyrusã€Right Superior Frontal Gyrus〠Right Middle Frontal Gyrusã€Right Paracentral Lobule; Left Superior/Middle/Inferior tempo ral Gyrusã€Right Superior/Middle/Inferior Temporal Gyrus; Left Superior/Inferior Par ietal Lobuleã€Left Supramaginal Gyrusã€Left Angular Gyrusã€Right Angular Gyrus〠Right Poscentral Gyrusã€Right Precuneus;Left Inferior Occipital Gyrusã€Left Lingua 1 Gyrusã€Left Cuneusã€Right Superior/Inferior Occipital Gyrus〠Right Lingual Gyrus; Left Anterior Cingulate Cortexã€Left Posterior Cingulate Cortexã€Right Anterior Cin gulate Cortex; Left Fusiform Gyrus; Left Anterior Cerebellar Lobe; Right Putamen. gray matter volume increase was also found, The regions were as follows:Left Sup erior Frontal Gyrusã€Left Cuneusã€Right Superior Parietal Lobule.Conclusion:Cerebral gray matter volume extensively decreased in several brain regions of IGE patients. It provides imaging evidence and atheoretical basis for understanding potential neuropathological,neuroanatomy and pathophysiology of IGE patients. |
