Clinical Study On Acupoint Catgut Embedding For Treating Phlegm Dampness Type Obesity With Hypomenorrhea

Objective:To compare therapeutic effects of acupoint catgut embedding and acupuncture therapy for treatment of phlegm dampness type obesity with hypomenorrhea, in order to provide a more convenient and effective solution for the clinical treatment.Methods:60 patients of phlegm dampness type obesity with hypomenorrhea were divided into two groups according to random number table,30 cases in the acupoint catgut embedding therapy group, the other 30 cases in the acupuncture group. Acupoints were CV12, CV10, CV6, CV4, EX-CA1 (bilateral), SP15(bilateral), ST28(bilateral), ST40(bilateral). Patients in acupoint catgut embedding group had treatment respectively in the seventh and twentieth days of each menstrual cycle, patients in the acupuncture group were treated three times a week, once every other day,a menstrual cycle is a course of treatment, the patients need continuous treatment for three courses.Observe the changes of body mass index (BMI), body fat ratio (F%), waist hip ratio (WHR), sex hormone, insulin resistance index and TCM symptom scores before and after treatment.Results:1.Patients of phlegm dampness type obesity with hypomenorrhea in the acupoint catgut embedding group and acupuncture group were significantly decreased in body mass index (BMI) and body fat ratio (F%), waist to hip ratio (WHR), the scores of TCM syndromes and insulin resistance index (P< 0.05),but the sex hormones had no significant difference before and after treatment(P> 0.05), and all of them are normal.2.Acupoint catgut embedding group had better curative effect than acupuncture group in reducing body fat rate and TCM symptom(P< 0.05),and acupuncture group had better curative effect than the catgut implantation group in lowering insulin resistance index (P< 0.05).3.The total effective rate that acupoint catgut embedding group for treating obesity and hypomenorrhea was respectively 93.33% and 96.67%, the acupuncture group was respectively 86.67% and 83.33%,the acupoint catgut embedding group had better effect than the acupuncture group.Conclusion:Acupoint catgut embedding is convenient and effective for treating phlegm dampness type obesity patients with hypomenorrhea, it can achieve the dual purpose of losing weight and regulating menstruation,and its curative effect is better than that of acupuncture, so it is worth popularized in clinical.
