On Clinical Application And Assessment Of Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality Of Life Questionnaire (Chinese Version)

ObjectiveIn order to know the adaptability of Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ)'s Chinese version in China, then introduce it into China and evaluate its quality of Chinese version, and explore the relationship of the quality of life tested by the Chinese version of RQLQ and the traditional way using the symptoms and physical signs as methods of effect evaluation.MethodsRQLQ and Chinese version of RQLQ translated by the MAPI Research Institute were introduced from the author, and organized the focus groups to make the culture adaptability of the RQLQ. After retest study on 15 cases with the Chinese version of RQLQ , and then 109 cases with allergic rhinitis in the multi-center study were tested , 10 cases of them were retested after 24 hours later , 56 cases of them were retested after a period of Chinese medicine treatment based on the differentiation. Reliability, validity and responsiveness were implemented by using the SPSS13. 0 software make a statistics. 28 cases who accepted the Chinese medicine treatment also recorded the symptoms and physical signs before and after treatment, after statistics to find the relationship of the quality of life tested by the Chinese version of RQLQ and the traditional way using the symptoms and physical signs as methods of effect evaluation.Results The test-retest reliability of the Chinese version RQLQ questionnaire was 0. 996, and the seven domains were 0.992,0.975, 0.981, 0.951, 0.999, 0.984, 0. 990 respectively. The Cronbach's alpha of the Chinese version RQLQ questionnaire was 0. 947, and the seven domains were0. 834, 0. 827, 0.918, 0. 805, 0.808, 0.791, 0.853 respectively. The Guttman Split-half Coefficient of the questionnaire is 0.960. Seven components were extracted in factor analysis, and the total cumulative contribution was 74.121%. By correlation analysis, 7 components were divided into seven domains: activities , sleep, non-hayfever symptoms, practical problems, nasal symptoms, eye symptoms, emotional, same as the English Version. There had been significant changes after treatment noticed. The data of 105 cases shows the quality of life of the allergic rhinitis patients were impaired to different degree, three domains in activities, practical problems and nasal symptoms were impaired apparently, other domains such as emotion, sleep, non-hayfever symptoms and eye symptoms were also impaired to different degree. There seems no difference on the quality of life of allergic rhinitis between the gender and age. The quality of life of 56 cases who accepted the treatment based on the differentiation were improved after treatment, three domains in activities, practical problems and nasal symptoms were improved distinctly, other domains such as emotion, sleep , non-hayfever symptoms and eye symptoms were also improved to different degree. The Chinese medicine decoction seems more effective than the Chinese formulated products. As methods of effect evaluation for allergic rhinitis, the quality of life tested by the Chinese version of RQLQ wasn't related to the traditional way using the symptoms and physical signs.ConclusionThe measurement properties of the Chinese version of RQLQ including reliability , validity and responsiveness were met with satisfaction and seemed to be adaptable to Chinese patients with allergic rhinitis. The quality of life of the allergic rhinitis patients were impaired to different degree, the treatment based on the differentiation can improve it, the Chinese medicine decoction seems more effective than the Chinese formulated products. The relationship of the quality of life tested by Chinese version of RQLQ and the traditional way using the symptoms and physical signs as methods of effect evaluation for allergic rhinitis still need to do more study.
