Objective:By using the combination of questionnaires to investigate and compare the psycho-social problems (mental status) of the orthognathic patients and normal population. Moreover to study the changes of psychosocial status of the orthognathic patient in pre and post-surgery.To prove that orthognathic surgery is effective treatment of facial deformities as well as the improvement of psychosocial status by using accurate psychological assessment methods.Methods:This study included 30 orthognathic patients,100 normal population from the Affiliatrd Stomatology Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from guangxi medical library. The period was covered from 6-2014 to 3-2016. We assessed normal population (C), patients 1 to 2 weeks pre-surgery(T1) and three months post-surgery(T2). Patients answered the satisfaction postoperation questionnaire at T2.The normal population answered the same questionnaires and analyze and compare the psychosocial status at the different period by using SPSS 19.0 software,with the significance level set to P <0.05,SWPS proceed to set out charts.Results:1.The comparison between Tland the control group (n=100), in the SCL-90 questionnaire showed that gender, age, marital factors are no significant differences (P> 0.05). F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9 factors score differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) and Flto F9 factors scores were significantly increased.In the SCL-90 questionnaire scores, total score,total average, positive symptoms average difference were statistically significant (P <0.05). In the EPQ questionnaire survey scores shows that P (psychoticim) difference was statistically significant.2.Comparison T1 and T2, the SCL-90 questionnaire survey, scores showed that F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F8, F9 factors scores differences were statistically significant (P<0.05), while Flto F9 scores were both high.In the SCL-90 questionnaire scores, total scores,total average, positive symptoms average differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) and the scores were high. The EPQ questionnaire survey scores shows that P (psychoticism), E (Extroversion-Introversion), N (neuroticism) differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) in which E factor was high; P, N factor scores decreased significantly.3.Orthognathic surgery patients who underwent operation after 3 months, the satisfaction postoperation questionnaire showed satisfactory (88.5%), uncertain (11.4%), not satisfied (6.66%). Group satisfaction and dissatisfaction set in compulsive, terrorist difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The postoperative satisfaction rate and P, E, L,F7 were positive in correlation (r= 0.24, r=0.33, r=0.243, r=0.401); N, F1, F2, F3, F4, F6, F8, F9 factor were negative in correlation.4.The comparison between T2 and the normal group (n=100), in the SCL-90 questionnaire survey, F6 (dourness), F7 (terrorist) score differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) and the F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F8, F9 factor score were approximate.In the SCL-90 questionnaire survey scores, total scores total average, positive items, negative item, positive symptoms scores differences were not statistically significant (P> 0.05) and the score was approximate.The EPQ questionnaire survey scores, show that E,N factors differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); P, N factors decreased significantly, while E factor increased significantly.Conclusion:1.Personal characteristics of patients before surgery, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, Psychoticism, personality tendencies unfriendly. This study suggest that proper psychological measurement need to measure before the orthognathic surgery. After three months of operation,Psychological characteristics of patients significant improve and have extroversion, optimist, self-confidence, self-esteem, enthusiasm. Anxiety and depression gradually reduced, easy to communicate with people. Orthognathic surgery can improve the function of mastication and facial features.Treatment can change the psychological condition beneficently.2.After surgical treatment, the patient psychological state is restored closer to a n ormal level state. This indicates that the patient psychological status and efficacy are closely related after the improvement in the appearance post-orthognathic su rgery.3.According to the symptom checklist 90(SCL-90), EPQ and postoperative satisfaction,there is suitable for patients psychological evaluation who need to treat. Moreover have to use reasonable psychological intervention to improve the result of surgery and the patient’s satify.
