Objectives:In this study, we based on the clinical profile of melasma patients, using statistical methods, concluding the general conditions, related factors of etiology, quality of life and skin lesions of melasma, trying to explore the basic syndrome differentiation and the extensibility of the rare one. So these can provide a reliable clinical evidence for preventing and treating the disease. Methods:From April to October in 2015, we investigated the patients with melasma from dermatology department of Chinese medicine hospital in Jiangsu province in the form of questionnaire. According to the inclusion criteria of the study, a total of 150 patients were collected as patient group. These patients were matched 1:1 to carry out case-control study. The questionnaires were filled by respondents with the help of trained professionals. All the data collected were input into Excel to build database, and then adpoted SPSS 20.0 to carry out statistics analysis. The major risk and preventive factors were screened out by the single and multiple factor logistics regression. About the screen of TCM syndrome group cluster, we adopted variable clustering method to determine each class representiative syndromes and reasonably summing up TCM syndromes. Results:Statistical analysis and logical reasoning indicated that UV radiation was the risk factor of melasma, and the preventative facors were changing of residence and drink. Five diseases had positive correlation with melasma, including nevus, pigmented fungiform papillae of the tongue, sclera pigmentation, adnexitis, hyperplasia of mammary glands. When diagnose and treat melasma, we can consider from the 7 patterns of syndrome:stagnation of the liver-qi with deficiency of the kidney, hyperpyrexia of liver, weakness of the spleen and retention of dampness, weakness of the spleen and retention of dampness with weakness of the kidney-qi, Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney with dampness, Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney with blood stasis, and deficiency of both qi and blood. Conclusion:UV radiation has significant implications for the pathogenesis of malsma, while nevus, pigmented fungiform papillae of the tongue, sclera pigmentation, adnexitis, hyperplasia of mammary glands are closely related. The common TCM syndromes are stagnation of the liver-qi with deficiency of the kidney, hyperpyrexia of liver, weakness of the spleen and retention of dampness, weakness of the spleen and retention of dampness with weakness of the kidney-qi, Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney with dampness, Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney with blood stasis, and deficiency of both qi and blood. The disease brings a negative impact to the patients’quality of life and increases their psychological pressure. So exploring the etiology, clinical features and TCM syndrome types is crucial to prevent and reduce the occurrence and development of disease, providing clinial evidence for future treatment of Chinese medicine.
