this study intends to do a combination of acupuncture and Western medicine to treat facial paralysis. Comparative study between facial paralysis patients treated by Western medicine alone and patients treated by western medicine combined with acupuncture.Methods:60 cases of patients according to treatment were randomly divided into control group (odd numbers, adrenal cortical hormone () and massage (Comoros traditional massage method) and treatment group (even number), adrenal cortical hormone and acupuncture) 30 cases. The control group using adrenal cortical hormone (dexamethasone), usage:40 mg/day,2 times/day, continuous seven days after drug withdrawal. In the treatment group is on the basis of the control group with the same adrenocortical hormone (dexamethasone) combined with acupuncture on Yangbai, Canzhu, Yuyao, Sizhukong, Dicang, Jiache, Qianzheng, Yifeng, Hegu. Combined Acupoints:for hyperactivity of liver Yang:Taichong, in the nasolabial phylum:Ying Xiang, for wry Renzhong,:Shuigou, for hypogeusia or numbness of the tongue:Lian quan. Acupuncture method:patients took a supine position, using the Suzhou Hua Tuo brand of filiform disposable needles 25-40mm for acupuncture stimulation. After the routine Acupoint disinfection. Yangbai punctured penetrated through Yuyao, Dicang through Jiache, Yingxiang obliquely to the nasal root, Sguigou obliquely upward, Lianquan towards the tongue root for stimulation, the remaining of the acupoints are stimulated in a conventional way. The acupoints of the face stimulated with the even reinforcing reducing method, Hegu with reducing method. For 30min needle retention treatment, once a day for 5 days a week. The two groups were observed for 5 weeks, recording the patient’s condition and analyze its clinical curative effect before and after treatment.Results:1. the comparison of the main symptoms and accompanying symptoms:The main symptoms and accompanying symptoms scores of the treatment group before and after treatment, were statistically significant (P=0.032< 0.05. The scores of the control group before and after treatment, were not statistically significant (P> 0.05). The score of the treatment group’s main symptoms and accompanying symptoms after treatment compared to the control group has a statistical significance (P< 0.05) and adrenal cortical hormone plus acupuncture for treatment of peripheral facial nerve paralysis curative effect is better than that of adrenal cortical hormone plus Comoros traditional massage therapy.2. the total efficiency comparison:For 30 cases in the treatment group,8 were cured,16cases were markedly effective,6 cases were effective, and 0 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 100%, in the control group, there was no cured cases,1 case were markedly effective,29 cases were effective, and 0 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 100%. The total effective rate of the two groups was 7,8. Adrenal cortical hormone (Dexamethasone) and acupuncture treatment of peripheral facial paralysis in the total efficiency is better than that of adrenal cortical hormone (Dexamethasone) and Comoros traditional massage, especially the cure rate is more prominent.3. the therapeutic effect of the two methods:After the internal comparison of the treatment group and the control group, the therapeutic score has a statistical difference (<0.05), this shows that Adrenal cortical hormone (Dexamethasone)and acupuncture treatment and the adrenal cortical hormone(Dexamethasone) and Comoros traditional massage can both effectively treat peripheral facial paralysis.
