Objective The purpose of this clinical reseach is to observe the efficacy of acupoints hour-prescription acupuncture therapy in treating scapulohumeral periarthritis with Hand-Taiyang meridian type, and explore the difference and superiority of curative effect, by comparing with the routine acupuncture methods. Methods Through random sampling method, 70 eligible patients were divided into two groups with 35 patients per each, experimental group( hour-prescription of acupoints acupuncture group) and control group( routine acupuncture group).Experimental group and control group were both applied by the same acupoints and technic. Based on the same acupoint, the experimental group was treated by acupoints hour-prescription acupuncture therapy in the period of the local daily time from 1 p.m.to 3 p.m. in Kunming, while the control group was treated by routine acupuncture in other period of the local daily time, except the time from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in Kunming. The whole treatment include two courses of treatments and one course of treatment includes 5 times acupuncture.. Choosing “shoulder joint function assessment scale†as the observing index, we made the statistical analysis and effective assessment on treatment result of each group, by comparing the changes of shoulder joint function, which include the pain(P) degree, the range of motion(ROM), and the activities of daily living(ADL), after one course of treatment was completed and the whole treatments(two courses) were completed.Results(1) The gender, age, duration and invasion showed no statisticalsignificance(P>0.05) between the two groups. Before treatment, the pain scores, ROM scores, myodynamia scores, ADL scores, form scores and total scores of the shoulder joint function assessment scale also had no statistical significance(P>0.05)between the two groups. As above, the data of the two groups was comparable.(2)There were 70 patients in this clinical research, including 20 patients who were suffered from Scapulohumeral periarthritis with Hand-Taiyang meridian type in left shoulder,45 patients who were suffered from Scapulohumeral periarthritis with Hand-Taiyang meridian type in right shoulder and 5 patients who were suffered from Scapulohumeral periarthritis with Hand-Taiyang meridian type in both two shoulders. For better statistic and comparison, we counted the samples as shoulder unit, so we separate the two shoulders into left shoulder and right shoulder. It is a total of 75 shoulders which suffered from Scapulohumeral periarthritis with Hand-Taiyang meridian type in this clinical research, including 25 cases with left shoulder and 50 cases with right shoulder. After one course of treatment, in the experimental group there were 7 cases clinically cured, 6 cases markedly effective, 23 cases effective, and2 cases ineffective, so that the cure and markedly effective rate was 34.21% and the total effective rate was 94.74%.Comparably, in the control group there were 3 cases clinically cured, 2 cases markedly effective, 28 cases effective, and 4 cases ineffective after one course, so that the cure and markedly effective rate was 13.51% and the total effective rate was 89.19%. After whole treatment(two courses), among the experimental group, there were 19 cases clinically cured, 14 cases with obvious effect,4 cases with effect, and 1 cases with no effect, so that the cure and markedly effective rate was 86.84%, the total effective rate was 97.37%. Comparably, among the control group, there are 13 cases clinically cured, 10 cases with obvious effect, 11 cases with effect, and 3 cases with no effect after the treatment, so that the cure and markedly effective rate was 62.16%, the total effective rate was 91.89%. As above, after one course and after the treatment, the curative effect of two groups has statistical significance(P < 0.05), cure and markedly effective rate of the two groups has statistical significance(P < 0.05), but the total effective rate has no statistical significance(P>0.05).(3) Comparison in each group: Compared before-and-after of one course and the whole treatment, pain scores, ROM scores, myodynamia scores, ADL scores and total scores of the shoulder joint function assessment scale in each groupby statistical processing, all showed statistical significance(P<0.01).(4) Comparisonbetween the two groups:After one course, the pain scores, ROM scores, and total scores of the shoulder joint function assessment scale showed statistical significance(P<0.05)between the two groups, but the myodynamia scores,ADL scores and form scores showed no statistical significance(P>0.05). After the whole treatment, the pain scores and total scores of the shoulder joint function assessment scale showed statistical significance(P<0.05)between the two groups, but the myodynamia scores, ROM scores, ADL scores and form scores showed no statistical significance(P>0.05).(5) During the two courses, the acupuncture frequency for cures in the two groups showed statistical significantce(P<0.05).Conclusion(1) Both acupoints hour-prescription acupuncture therapy and routine acupuncture are effective to scapulohumeral periarthritis with Hand-Taiyang meridian type.(2) The total curative effect of experimental group which was treated with acupoints hour-prescription acupuncture therapy was better than that of control group which was treated with routine acupuncture. The cure and markedly effective rate of experimental group was higher than that of control group. The total effective rate of two groups were similar, with no significant differences.(3) In pain scores and ROM scores, experimental group was better than control group. But, in myodynamia scores and ADL scores, two groups were similar.(4) The acupoints hour-prescription acupuncture therapy used on scapulohumeral periarthritis with Hand-Taiyang meridian type can shorten the course period of treament. |
