ObjectiveTo compare maternal and perinatal outcomes in women undergoing mediolater e pisiotomy group versus episiitomy-free group, compare previous rates of episiito my of multipara in the two groups. Explore the restrictive used of mediolater e pisiotomy in vaginal delivery.MethodsThis retrospective study was carried out between January 1 and June 30,2014 in our hospital. Recruited maternal (422 women) beyond 37 weeks gestation in singletion cephalic presentation,168 women were performed mediolateral episiotomy,254 women without episiotomy.ResultsThere was no statistical significant difference in general information of pregnant women and neonate among two groups. For primigravida, There was no statistical difference of Ⅱperineal tear, Ⅲ perineal tear, cervical laceration, perineal infection, neonatal tumor, total stage of labor, asphyxia incidence between the two groups; The postpartum hemorrhage in 2 hours and 24 hours, perineal pain after delivery, postnatal urinary retention, vaginal hematoma, sexual pain in the mediolateral episiotomy group were significantly higher than the non-episiotomy group respectively (P<0.05); The second stage of labor were obviously decreased in the mediolateral episiotomy group than the episiitomy-free group(P<0.05, P=0.04). For multipara, the incidence of previous episiotomy was high than episiitomy-free group.ConclusionsIn the course of delivery, no statistical significant difference in the result of neo nate among two groups. This proved that Mediolateral episiotomy can not impr ove the outcome of fetus, and is associated with higher incidence of maternal c omplication. Therefore, As unnecessary conditions would increase the rate of int act perineal and minor perineal trauma and reduce postpartum delivery pain, we should advocate restrictive episiotomy in vaginal delivery, protect perineum, imp rove the quality of delivery.
