Objective: To investigate the relationship between urinary albumin to creatinine ratio(U-ALB/CR) and urinary electrolytes in patients with essential hypertension in Xinjiang. Methods: The blood lipids, blood electrolytes, 24 h urine electrolytes and U-ALB/CR of 1108 hypertensives were examined in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from February 2015 to January 2013, and the correlation between age, urine potassium, urine sodium and U-ALB/CR was analysed. Results: There was no significant difference in age, course of hypertension, cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, blood sodium, fasting blood glucose and urine sodium between U-ALB/CR normal(<3.17 mg/mmol,944 cases) and abnormal group(≥3.17 mg/mmol,164 cases).Compared with patients in U-ALB/CR normal group, patients in U-ALB/CR abnormal group had higher body mass index[BMI, 26.4326.50±3.75 比 25.68±3.42kg/m2],systolic blood pressure[SBP,146(131-170)vs 140(130-151)mm Hg],diastolic blood pressure[DBP,93(81-104)vs 88(79~95)mm Hg],serum sodium / potassium[39.09(36.12-41.78)vs 38.27(35.80-40.47)] and urine sodium / potassium[3.58(2.48-5.27)vs 3.12(2.52-3.86);all P<0.05];and lower serum potassium and urine potassium(all P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that SBP,DBP, BMI and urine sodium/urine potassium were risk factors of U-ALB/CR[OR(95%CI) was 1.333( 1.038-1.711),1.372( 1.085-1.736),1.065(1.015-1.118)and 1.270(1.151-1.402), respectively, all P<0.05];and urine potassium was the protective factor[OR(95%CI) was 0.987(0.979-0.996),P<0.05]. Conclusion: U-ALB/CR was associated with blood pressure, BMI and ratio of urine sodium to urine potassium, urine potassium in patients with essential hypertension, good control of blood pressure, improve the lifestyle and diet structure, reduce weight and so on is conducive to reduce renal damage.
