Objective:The clinical research was aimed to observe and evaluate the clinical efficacy of moxibustion treatment for primary dysmenorrhea in two interventional times,to definite the best intervening time of treatment. Methods:This research followed the randomized and controlled trial principles.96 patients who had Primary Dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into treatment group, control group and no-treatment control group,32 cases in each group. Sanyinjiao(SP6) and Guanyuan(CV4)were choosed. Two groups were respectively given moxibustion treatment:one group started from 5 or 7 days prior to menstuation; the other group started from the first day of each menstual cycal. The two moxibustion groups both received successive treatment for 3 menstrual cycles and 5 or 7 days in each menstrual cycle. The third group received no treatment. The clinical efficacy was evaluated by criteria of Visual Analog Scales, Numerical Rating Scale, the Cox Menstrual Symptom Scale, Zung-Self-rating Anxiety Scale and Zung-Self-rating Depression Scale at the end of each menstrual cycle. Visual Analog Scales and Numerical Rating Scale were used to evaluate the intensity of pain; The Cox Menstrual Symptom Scale was used to evaluate the the duration and severity of pain and symptoms;Zung-Self-rating Anxiety Scale and Zung-Self-rating Depression Scale were used to evaluate the anxiety and depression during the menstuation.Results:1. This trial started from March 2014 to March 2015 and 96 cases were collected. 5 cases were eliminated and a total of 91 cases completely finished observation of clinical efficacy. There was no significant difference among the three groups in terms of cases of completion (P>0.05)2. As the baseline information were of no statistic difference among the three groups before treatment (P>0.05), they were comparable.3.After therapy, in terms of VAS,NRS,CMSS,SDS and SAS, there existed significant difference both in the two moxibustion groups (P<0.01) and compared to the blank group, there was significant difference (P<0.01). In terms of VAS, NRS, CMSS,there was significant difference between the two moxibustion groups (P<0.05), while in terms of SAS and SDS,the two moxibustion groups had no statistical differene (P>0.05).4.In the follow-up, in terms of VAS,NRS,CMSS,there was significant difference between the two moxibustion groups(P<0.05).5. The safeties and compliance of the three groups were good.Conclousion:1. Moxibustion has certain therapeutic effect on primary dysmenorrhea.2. The two moxibustion groups can shorten the duration of pain and symptoms as well as reduce the severity of the pain and symptoms of PD and moxibustion before the menstuation has more advantages than that during the menstuation for the treatment of PD.3. The two moxibustion groups can both alleviate anxiety and depression of PD but the curative effect of moxibustion before the menstuation is similar to that with the menstuation for the treatment of PD.
