| Background:Colon cancer is one of the malignant tumors which threaten to health of mankind seriously.The prognosis of early colon cancer was relatively better in digestive tract cancer. However, Some patients was on advanced stage when diagnosed.Thus, the prognosis of them were poor. With further study of the traditional Chinese medicine,new colon cancer pathogenesis of traditiongal Chinese medicine theory innovation,traditional Chineses medicine treatment,which provides a solid theoretical basis of combining traditional Chinese and western medicine of colon cancer and clinical experience.Objective:To observe whether clear heat and dry dampness method was able to improve quality of the lifein patients.In this way can we provide effective treatment for advanced colon cancer with heat and dampness.Methods:From March 1st,2013 to September 1st,2012,41 patients on stage â…¢ or â…£ colon cancer with heat and dampness were adopted in this study, and they were randomized into 2 groups, i.e., treatment group, which received FOLFOX4 chemotherapyC every 14 days a period, 12 periods in total)and herbs for clear heat and dry dampness, and control group, which was given same chemotherapy above. KPS score, improvement score of TCM syndrome and therapeutic evaluation were observed.Results:Compared five baseline information between 2 groups including gender, age, TNM stage, KPS score and improvement score of TCM syndrome, there were no statistical significance. After study, it was found there was no obvious statistical significance in therapeutic effect by chi-square test (P>0.05).There was obvious statistical significance in KPS score by chi-square test (P<0.05). In treatment group, The KPS score difference was significant between before and after treatment (P<0. 05), while not in the control group (P> 0.05). After treatment, there was statistical significance in improvement score of TCM syndrome by rank sum test (P<0.05) The improvement score of TCM syndrome difference was significant between before and after treatment in both groups (P<0.05)Conclusion:1. Herbs for clear heat and dry dampness combined chemotherapy to advanced colon cancer with heat and dampness was safe and effective.2. Although effect in treatment group was slightly better than that in control group, there was no statistical significance (P>0.05)3. After treatment, KPS score and improvement score of TCM syndrome in the treatment group were better than that in the control group.Herbs for clear heat and dry dampness combined chemotherapy had relative advantage.
