Uric acid is both iron chelating agent and antioxidant, and it may delay neurodegenerative disease progression. Epidemiological studies have found that there may be a negative correlation between the levels of uric acid and Parkinson’s disease severity. The progression that patients with PD were detected to contain high levels of uric acid was relatively slow. It provides a new train of thought, that monitoring and controlling levels of uric acid may contributes to an earlier diagnosis and treatment and condition evaluation of PD. The author would describe the following aspects, such as, the relationship between the levels of uric acid and PD, the influence of goat for PD, anti-PD drugs effect on uric acid,so that summarize the latest progression of the relationship between the level of uric acid and PD via the studies throughout recent years. |
