Orthodontics-surgery Treatment In A Patient With Serious Ectopic Impacted Maxillary Canine

Impaction of the maxillary permanent canines is the most common form of tooth impaction with the exception of the third molars, it is multiple among teenagers during the late mixed dentition and early permanent dentition acting as a kind of disorder of tooth eruption and development. Maxillary canines impaction, with the condition affecting female patients more frequently than males, presents symptoms both palatal displacement(PDC) and labial displacement(LDC).The late eruption time,no obvious self-conscious symptom except crowded dentition,and the lake of awareness of oral health and tooth eruption and replacement, all of three give rise to the best treatment opportunity missing by patients. Maxillary canines impaction have negative effects on dentition form, dentition integrality and tooth eruption. Some pathologic changes happen to mandible and facial pattern can be found when mandible cystic disease or congenital missing, malformation eruption disorder of adjacent teeth occur with the impaction.At present, the related literature and case report concentrate the essentials of therapy on extending eruptive space and removaling eruptive obstruction.This article summarizes maxillary canines impaction etiology,diagnostic method and therapies in the related literature and case report, and emphasizes resistance sources, eruptive space and eruptive potentia acting a crucial importance role at the time of making treatment plan. This is a case of maxillary canines impaction concomitant keratocystic odontogenic tumor with oral and maxillofacial surgery treatment, including marsupialization and closed-guiding-erupt operation, guiding by orthodontic idea and method.This case introduces and discusses the means of curing serious dislocated maxillary canine with both orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery methods.Maxillary canines impaction related problems about morbidity, etiology, therapies and matters needing attention are explained and discussed deeply, to provide reference on treatment and study of related cases.
