Objectives:The aim of this study was to investigate the current situation of activity of daily living and prevalence of anxiety among the aged living in urban long term care facilities and analyze the influence factors and the relationship between them so as to provide evidence for improving the status of the elderly in endowment institution. Methods:The activity of daily living and prevalence of anxiety were measured among the aged living in city A long term care facilities by using the test of Modified Barthel Index(MBI)、Geriatric Anxiety Inventory(GAI) and Social Support Rate Scale(SSRS) from September to December 2015. The SPSS 19.0 was used for statistic analysis. The general information of the participants was analyzed using descriptive analysis; The influencing factors about the activity of daily living and anxiety status of the aged living in long term care facilities were analyzed by single factor analysis adopted chi-square test and nonparametric rank sum test, multivariate analysis was studied with logistic regression analysis and multiple stepwise regression, using Spearman correlation analyzed the bivariate correlation. Results:1.The number of participants in long term care facilities was 310, including 214(69%) the old with impaired activity of daily living, and 17(5.5%) with high risk of anxiety.2.The influencing factors, that the activity of daily living of the aged living in long term care facilities analyzed by single factor analysis, showed that different age, monthly income,movement condition, hobbies, chronic diseases had significant effects on the elderly’s activity abilities(P<0.05); Factors that were entered activity of daily living regression model included participants’ age, monthly income, movement condition, hobbies, chronic diseases, in addition, the prediction correct rate of this model is 72.9%. Dimensions of utilization of support and subjective support were positively correlated with the score of social sustain and activity of daily living of the eldly living in long term care facilities(P<0.05).3.The influencing factors, that the depression status of the aged living in long term care facilities analyzed by single factor analysis, showed that different age, educational level, monthly income, movement condition, hobbies, chronic diseases, institution type had significant effects on the elderly’s depression status(P<0.05); Factors that were entered regression equation included participants’ age, monthly income, movement condition, hobbies, chronic diseases by multiple stepwise regression. Dimensions of utilization of support and subjective support were significant negatively correlated with the score of social sustain and activity of daily living of the elderly living in long term care facilities(P<0.01).4.The activity of daily living of the participants was negatively related with their anxiety situation(r=-0.489,P<0.01). Conclusion:1.The less impairment rate of the activity of daily living among the aged living in A city long term care facilities, most of which were mild disabled in activity of daily living. The possible influencing factors about the activity of daily living of them included age, monthly income, movement condition, hobbies, chronic diseases and social support.2.The better the status of mental health concerning the elderly living in A city long term care facilities, the less anxiety level of them. The possible influencing factors about the anxiety level of them included age, monthly income, movement condition, hobbies, chronic diseases and social support.3.The better of the activity of daily of the aged living in long term care facilities, the less of their anxiety situation. It can improve the aged’s mental state and relieve their anxiety level by increasing the activity of daily living among the aged living in long term care facilities.
