The Bibliometric Analysis Of Core Journals On Medical In China

Objectives:The analysis of academic quality, influence situation and development characteristics of medical journals is to advance medical journals, to evaluate the development characteristics of the discipline of medical journals, to explore the main factors influencing the medical journals influence, and to provide countermeasures to medical j ournal’s development.Methods:Based on Chinese core journal overview,248 species of medical journals were picked out as the research object, and divided into 17 subjects. In terms of the data of Chinese Scientific and Technical Journal Citation RePort(Core Version) for 2010-2014 edition,9 kinds of bibliometrics indicators were selected as journals evaluation tool, including 5 reference index:impact factor, total cited frequency, immediacy indicators, cited half-life and being cited rate, as well as four source indicators:source literature quantity, the average number of authors, regional distribution number and funds paper rate. Analyze development characteristics of the medical journal group of 17 by bibliometric method:referenced and source index descriptive analysis, interval distribution and trend for five years. Spearman correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis also have done for 9 literature evaluation index with the excel and spss13.0,evaluate the relationship among indexes and figure out the influnce factors by judging spearman correlation coefficient and P values.1.Bibliometric analysis method:study present status of medical journals’ influence in China with bibliometric method, each evaluation index can reflect the characteristics of all kinds of medical journals in different perspectives, so as to analyze the current existing problems in the development of domestic medical journals.2.The data disposal and statistics:establish the database by excel, and analyze data periodically, map data of 5 years change trend; Input data spss13.0 software.The statistical methods including descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), spearman correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis.Result1. The medical core journals of China plays an important role in core journals of science and technology.According to the Chinese core journals overview, as well as the subject classification of journal, there are 248 core journals on medicine and health in China, accounting for 12.5% of the total number of Chinese core journals of science and technology, being one of the important part of journals. Compared with the overall level of 1989 Chinese core journals of science and technology provided by Chinese science and technology journal citation reports (core)in 2014, the indexes’level of medical core journals is higher than that of Chinese core journals of science and technology journals. There are 11 journals’cited frequency,12 journas’impact factor,9 medical journals’immediacy index,16 medical journals’average number of authors,13 medical journals’being quoted rate are higher than the average level of the Chinese core journals of science and technology. On the fund papers rate index, there are only 2 journals (basic medicine and Chinese medicine) whose fund paper ratios are higher than the average level of national journals of science and technology, the fund paper ratios of other 15 medical journals are low. The total citation rates of medical core journals (1958), impact factor (0.68), being quoted rate (0.85), the immediacy index (0.09) are higher than the average level of Chinese core journals of science and technology (total citation rates 1180, impact factor 0.523, being quoted rate 0.81, the immediacy index index 0.07), the fund papers (0.49) is lower than Chinese core journals of science and technology (0.56). The above indicators show that medical core journals of China occupy an important position in the science and technology journals, and have a strong impact.2.Chinese medical journals and preventive medicine and health journals have a rapid development, which can be called popular science journals, and are mainly affected by health policy and social attention. By analyzing 9 bibliometrict index of 17 medical journal, it turns out that the impact influence scope, the academic quality and attention of Chinese medicine and preventive medicine are growing rapidly in recent years. All indicators of the two academic journals are in the front rank in the statistics journals, and have a large growth, which reflects the development situation of Chinese medical journals and preventive medicine and health journals in recent 5 years is optimistic. Although each index of theml is high, and develops well, high degree of discrete and low immediacy index still exist, which shows the imbalance development stracture of two types journals, a big differences from journals, and low promptness.The utilization degree, impact and academic quality of these two type journals have a rapid growth with more and more attention. The reason dues to the national health policy, social attention and the discipline, since 2012, the new health policy has paid more attetion to the health manangement,medical science direction,disease prevention, national health improvement, public health services and primary medical.The main aim is to reduce disease. The policy conforms to the research content of preventive medicine and hygiene and Chinese medicine. The attention and guidance of health policy will inevitably increase the investment to the related research field, so as to promote the development of the discipline. In addition, preventive medicine and health, Chinese medical research content is consistent with social concerns, at the same time with the high speed development of economy and society, social people pay more attention to the management of health and disease prevention, and focus effects of public health as well as environmental on health.3.The development of medical journals on surgery, gynecology, pediatric is more mature and stable, some journals on different discipline have a unbalanced development.The influence of academic quality, discipline, speed of response and attention on medical journals on surgery, gynecology, pediatric have good development degree.Medical journals on different subject also existed problems like:unbalanced structural,low citation frequency, the overabundanced low citation frequency,low impact factor journals, or lack of journals with high cited frequency of periodicals and high impact factors.The unreasonable index distribution pattern will affect the impact of medical periodicals.4.Source index development gently, citation index increasing continued.The author cooperation level, quantity of manuscript source,the scope of influences coverage in overall medical journal have a similar development characteristics, remain a relatively stable development in 5 years,and get a smaller growth rate.Therefore, the development of the source index on medical journals has reached a stable stage.The total citation frequency and impact factor of most medical journals in 2009-2013 year are in a growth trend.5.Impact of University Medical Journal is limited Compared to the comprehensive medical periodicals, although their impact factor and immediacy index has no significant difference,(1)University Journals have a lower impact and reaction rate, which were similar to the average level of Chinese core journals.(2)While it has a higher fundation Ratio, citation and author cooperation degree,the total citation is still limited.6.The character of subject impact on the significance of journal evaluation indicatorDifferent properties between academic journals cause diverse meaning of one indicator.A popular subject will bring an increased number of researchers、 knowledge updating speed and the frequency of published papers cited. Subjects of narrow scope usualy have less researchers-, related journals, even throuh it has a high quality, the citation is still limited.The immediacy index can reflect how soon do periodicals on different subject used, whitch means reaction rate.Cited half-life can reflect literature,the aging speed of Periodical. We can see medical periodcals with higher immediacy index、hort cited half-life belongs to subject with strong application.Medical periodcals with long cited half-lifes belongs to sare practicable subject, and it is almost small in scale.A subject with a partial to technology and application, the document update speed will be fast,Thus more easily lead to a large number of research output.On the contrary, a subject with theory and method, the document update speed will be slow, reference data are also longer.That is to say, the medicals periodicals on theory type have lower literature aging, the medicals periodicals on application have a fast aging speed.7.The fund ratio is not related to impact factors, but mainly affected by the evaluation system oriented, manuscript source drain, unstandard funds, lax supervision and other relevant factors.Through the correlation analysis performed on 9 bibliometric indicators, there was no significant correlation between the two draw conclusions. It is contrary to the common opinon that fund paper ratio growth can promote factor development.Make mainly causes into two aspects of the objective factors and human factors:Objective factors mainly refer to:the journal evaluation department, the author units and individuals are excessive pursuit of reference English literature under the evaluation system guidance.Part of the International Searching Authority already refuse accept the literature with Less than half of cited English literature. This regulations reduce Chinese cited literature.So it is difficult to improve the impact factor.On the other hand, the current statistical data is for the domestic journals, while ignoring those statistics to foreign journal.Human factors includ Author, editor, supervision.It can bring problems like False fund, unstandard fund,the fund paper priority.8.The impact factors are main associated with the reference index,and the effection source index give to influence factors is limited.The linear regression analysis showed that the source index give minor effect to impact factor, citation indexes of citation, immediacy index is the main influence factor. The conclusion shows that, although the source index can reflect academic quality to a certain extent, the evaluation is unscientific, the objective evaluation of the influence of the journal need the comprehensive index.Therefore, in order to improve the impact of journal,the artical quality is mainly from the start.Conclusions:In order to solve existing problems in the development of medical journal, we put forward the following suggestions:1.Assessment institutions should improve the current performance evaluation mechanism to promote the impact of medical journals.Encourage the domestic scholars make thier high-quality articles published in china, reduce the articles outflow.2.1mpact factor is not the only index during the assessment of journal quality. Consideration should also be given to the characteristic of the subject,also note the structure balance of periodical development.Periodical management should strengthen the audition to fund paper quality.The journal editor should pay close attention to hot spots on medical and solicit contributions accordingly,which can improve the referenced opportunities.
