| Objective:To study the changes of inferior turbinate mucosa after low-temperature plasma ablation in rabbit and to provide laboratory evidence for this clinical surgical approach. Methods: Four rabbits were selected from Twenty-four New Zealand rabbits randomly, take 2 rabbits as normal controls and another 2 rabbits to be used as find the appropriate power and time, other 20 rabbits were divided into 5 groups randomly,4 rabbits in each groups, bilateral inferior turbinate were injected some volume of normal saline,to operate on the left inferior turbinate, another side as control. Inferior turbinate specimens were respectively taken on the 1,5,10,15,20 days after the operation, the specimens were observed under optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, and then Compared the histological changes. Results: Swelling and pseudomembranous appeard in the inferior turbinate on the 1st day after operation, it began to reduce swelling on the 5th day, pseudomembranous disappeared on the 10 th day,the inferior turbinate form back to normal on the 20 th day.The optical microscope results were consistent with the scanning electron microscope’s, the operation groups began to damaged in epithelial cells and ciliated on the 1st,5th day,it beban to repair on the 10 th day, it has been completely restored on the 20 th,Saline control group did not see damage. Conclusion: Coblation inferior turbinate reduction have an impact on the inferior turbinate mucosa and cilia,it depends on the ablation power and ablation time. The damage of inferior turbinate mucosa and cilia caused by low temperature plasma ablation are recoverable in this experiments, the morphology can be recovered in about 20 days. Coblation inferior turbinate reduction is a safe surgical approach, but need to master the ablation power and time. |
