Objective:To assess the HCV epidemic situation and find out its factors among drug users in Kokang prison settings of Myanmar, in order to provide scientific basis for making the HCV preventive and control measure. Methods:The target populations was detection of morphine in urine results were positive randomly selected and investigated with the method of cross-sectional study.Questionnaire was employed in the study,in order to get the data of all subjects’ demographic characteristic, drug use behavior, and gathered vein blood, tested HCV antibody by Gelatin particles Aggregation method in the laboratory.In-depth interview was used to collect information about drug-using and sexual behaviors. Statistical analyses were performed by Epidata and SPSS.Results:Two hundred fifty-five drug uses in this study, the mean age of 33.7±9.6, most of them were nationality Han, about77.6%; 60% were farmers;and most drug users were less educated, the married people were 52.9%. The prevalence of the antibody to hepatitis C among this study was 25.1% (64/255), injecting drug users were 40.7%.Educational level, marital status and intravenous using, years of drug use were statistically associated with anti-HCV(p<0.05),but age, injection frequency, sex behavior had not shown to be associated with anti-HCV(P>0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that unmarried in drug users (OR=0.47,95%CI:0.30~0.76), less education level (OR=1.69,95%CI:1.21-2.35), intravenous drug users (OR=3.91,95%CI:2.08-7.34) and drug abuse time≥6 years (OR=1.04,95%CI:1.00~1.09) is a risk factor for HCV infection. Conclusions:In this study, incident of HCV was significantly higher among those who inject drug, and the longer use drugs, the more opportunity infected. This study have implications for Myanmar in the Kakong area HCV prevention approaches.First knowledge of drug users can impact risk behaviors increased HCV testing;in order to reduce HCV transmission; Second, prevention strategies might be scaled up to prevention HCV infection has an important epidemiological.
