Objective:The research subjects of this study are the clinical cases of Pro. Guo Lizhong treating chronic gastritis with the theory of warming up the kidney and activating the spleen in the recent two years. This study also comprehensively sum up the clinical experience of Pro. Guo Lizhong treating chronic gastritis with the theory of warming up the kidney and activating the spleen on the base of data mining, which can provide the TCM clinical treatment of chronic gastritis with some new thoughts. Methods:Through consulting the relevant literature, I had an all-rounded grasp of the relevant theoretical knowledge regarding the method of warming up the kidney and activating the spleen. In regular outpatient service of Prof. Guo, I also collect and sort of the cases, during the period from December,2012 to September,2014,of treatments of chronic gastritis with the theory of warming up the kidney and activating the spleen, and then screen the proper cases in strict accordance with the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. With the help of Medcase V3.2 State Medical Membership Pulse Pattern Data Mining System, setting up a database of 219 cases(486times) of records, and using the technology of Frequency Distribution and Strengthening the Association Rule Mining Method, analysizing the relationship with the pathogenesis and clinical symptoms, tongue coating, pulse condition, and the drugs. At last, summarizing the result. Results:Among the 219 medical cases (486 consultation times), males are 47 cases(87 times), making up 21.46%,while females are 172,399,making up 78.54%, which indicates the unbalanced gender ratio. The samples range in age from 10 to 79 years old, in which the oldest is 75 and the youngest is 14. Patients between 40 and 59 years old makes the maximum proportion. The different TCM diagnosises of these cases are as follows:distention and fullness, stomachecha,The stomach cold, gastric upset, acid regurgitation, diarrhea disease, anorexia, emesis. In aspect of western medical diagnosises, chronic non-atrophic gastriti are 119 occupying 90.87%,while chronic atrophic gastritis 20 cases,9.13%,HP infection accompanying 4 cases 6.39%,bile regurgitation accompanying 11cases 5.02%,intestinal metaplasia accompanying 11 cases 5.02%,erosion accompanying 9 cases 4.11%.In aspect of clinical symptom, there are 222 different symptoms, the top 10 of them are epigastric distension and depression(51.65%), sensation of chill (38.27%),poor sleep(34.36%), fatigue (33.54%), belching (28.40%), stomachache (28.19%), anorexia (22.43%), thin sloppy stool (20.02%), acid regurgitation (18.11%), and dizziness (15.43%).In aspect of tongue picture, the following tongue pictures are the most common:light purple tongue (41.56%), light redness tongue (31.69%), tooth traces on tongue sides (22.02%), corpulent tongue (18.72%), thin white fur(17.49%), and greasy fur(17.08%).In terms of pulse’s frequency, empty pulse and weak pulse occur the most, accounting for 41.15% and 37.65%, respectively. In aspect of pathogenesis, there are 12 pathogenesis, of which the top five are:Yang deficiency of the spleen and kidney (100%), cold-dampness obstruction (55.97%), stagnation of cold-dampness (27.57%), resistance of soil to fire (17.70%) and flourishing of cold and dampness (10.08%). In regard to the medication, Zhifupian, Gongdingxiang and Sharen are used the most (100%), followed by Jiang (fresh ginger (71.0%), dried ginger (55.97%), simmered ginger (9.05%) and baked ginger (1.65%)), Zhigancao(99.79%), Baidoukou (98.97%), Zhu (Shengbaizhu (97.53%), Chaobaizhu(0.62%) and Cangzhu (0.41%)), Banxia (Fabanxia (97.12%), Jiangbanxia(1.44%) and Shengbanxia (0.21%)), and Gui (Guizhi (84.57%) and Rougui (14.20%)), and Shen (Shengshaishen (62.35%) and Dangshen (36.42%)).Conclusions:1. The main symptoms of the chronic gastritis treated with the theory of warming up the kidney and activating the spleen are abdominal distension tightness, belching, stomach ache, anorexia and excessive acid, and are commonly coupled with such symptoms as sensation of chill, poor sleep, fatigue and weakness, thin stool and dizziness. As for the tongue quality, light purple and light redness are common; the tongue mass is usually full, with tooth traces on its sides; for tongue coating, thin and white coating and white greasy coating are common; for the pulse conditions, virtual and weak pulse conditions are common.2. The nature of the chronic gastritis treated with the theory of warming up the kidney and activating the spleen belongs to not only the deficiency type, but sufficiency. The core of the pathogenesis is the Yang deficiency of the spleen and kidney, and the common coupled pathogeneses are cold-dampness obstruction, stagnation of cold-dampness, resistance of soil to fire and the flourishing of cold and dampness, etc.3.The herbal medicines used in the main formula by Guo Zhongli for the treatment of chronic gastritis using the method of warming up the kidney and activating the spleen are: Zhifupian, Jiang (fresh ginger, dried ginger, simmered ginger and baked ginger), cloves, Amomum villosum, prepared Liquorice Root, shu ((raw Rhizoma), fried Atraetylodes and Atraetylodes lancea)), Shen (dried raw ginseng and Codonopsis pilosula), male, white amomum cardamomum,, and Pinellia ternate (Rhizoma Pinellinae Praeparata, ginger processed pinellia and Raw pinellia),,andGui (cassia twig and cinnamon).
