Objective:Application of multi-slice spiral CT to observe sinus coronal images, the correlation of deflection of nasal septum with sinusitis wereretrospectively analyzed, aimed at improving the clinical efficacy ofendoscopic surgery for sinusitis and prevent the occurrence of sinusitis.Methods:Collect90cases of chronic sinusitis patients of the second clinicalmedical college of jilin university in September2013to June2014, whohave been confirmed by clinical pathology. The control group of90healthy patients(non sinusitis group). The twogroups are excepted for “S” type deflection of nasal septum, the nasalspace-occupying lesions(such as nasal hemangioma, nasal invertedpapilloma, nasal sinus cyst, ect),and a history of nasal surgery.Allsubjects were using SIMENS company’s sensation16type multi-slice CTscanned for sinus cross-section volume scanning. And then useing the CTpost-processing workstation multiplanar reconstruction (MultipliatePlane Reconstruction, MPR), mainly coronal image reconstruction. Observeand record the sinusitis group and control group deviated septum and nasalsinus changes, and analyze the correlation between nasal septum deviationand the incidence of sinusitis by statistical methods.Results:(1) In90patients with sinusitis group,52cases of nasal septum deviation, accounted for57.8%;90cases in the control group,31cases of nasal septum deviation, accounting for34.4%,thestatistical analysis of the differences between the two hadhighly statistical significance(χ2=9.860, P <0.01).(2) In90patients with sinusitis group,27cases of high nasal septumdeviation, accounted for57.8%;90cases in the control group, there are9cases, accounted for10%; statistical analysis wassignificant difference between them (χ2=11.251, P <0.01).(3) Non-high septum25cases, in90cases of sinusitis group, accounting for27.8%;with22cases in the control group, accounting for24.4%; the statistical analysis between the two wasnot statistically significant(χ2=O.259, P>0.05).(4) The OMC anatomical variations (Middle turbinate gasification, uncinate hypertrophy, inferior turbinate hypertrophy, ethmoidbulla excessive gasification, ect.) on both sides of deviatednasal septum, the contralateral (the wide side of the nasal cavity)is greater than the incidence of the ipsilateral (nasal narrowside), and the difference was statistically significance (P<0.05).(5) The difference of the both side’s occurrence of sinusitis had nostatistical significance (P>0.05).Conclusion:1. Between sinusitis group and the normal control group deviatedseptum difference was highly statistically significant (P <0.01),there is a close relationship between nasal septum deviation andthe onset of sinusitis.2. For high nasal septum patients, disease incidence of sinusitisgroup was obviously higher than the normal control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01), high nasalseptum is closely related to the incidence of sinusitis.3. For non-high nasal septum deviation, there was no significantdifference between the normal control group and sinusitis group(P>0.05), non-high nasal septum deviation has no clear correlationwith the incidence of sinusitis.4. The OMC anatomical variations on both sides of deviated nasalseptum, the contralateral (the wide side of the nasal cavity) isgreater than the incidence of the ipsilateral (nasal narrow side),and the difference was statistically significance (P <0.05).5. The difference of the both side’s occurrence of sinusitis had nostatistical significance (P>0.05), that is, the incidence ofsinusitis was no significant difference in both sides of thedeviated septum.
