[Objective]For the most of our medical institutions, management and development of volunteerism is still in the exploratory stage. Through this study research on volunteering in one hospital in Shanghai carries out a deep understanding of the hospital since the establishment of the Office of volunteers at the hospital. From beginning of the volunteer service in hospital, it was built such as the relevant system, training mechanism, job settings, services, incentives, patients, family members and medical personnel and other aspects of the degree of recognition. Also it was analyzed that the effect of the hospital volunteer service. And through this research, it was found that the problems and deficiencies existed in a hospital volunteer work, and gave reference and advices to the future on continuing to carry out volunteer work.[Methods]Questionnaires, individual interviews, group interviews, focus interviews was taken into the study. According to subjects, the survey, was divided into: community volunteer questionnaire survey of medical workers and patients/ families questionnaire. The questionnaire includes general information, basic information questionnaire of voluntary service, voluntary service satisfaction evaluation questionnaire.682 valid questionnaires were collected by random sampling, of which 114 copies of questionnaires community volunteer groups, 152 copies questionnaires of medical workers,416 copies questionnaires of patients/families. This research used Excel2012, Epidata3.0, SPSS19 software for statistical data analysis, statistical methods include descriptive statistics, chi-square test, one-way AN OVA.[Results][1] Result from participating in hospital volunteering service motivation:The social volunteer groups, academic factors are statistically significant for its "altruistic" motives and gender, education factors are statistically significant for its "self-interest" of motivation; medical volunteer groups, the age factor are having significant differences of their "altruistic" motives, there’re no significant differences in personal sociological characteristics of their "self-interest" of motivation.[2] Different populations who surveyed for hospital volunteering incentives was significantly different in cognition, medical workers and patients/families identify more with incentives in the form of spiritual, social volunteers pay much of their attentions on "economic subsidies" incentives.[3] 69.17% of the patients/families have hospital volunteering experiences, and different age, region, education are affecting their willingness to volunteer services were statistically significant.[4] Community volunteers to participate in the project is the largest group in medical and guide services as well as self-guidance equipment. Medical volunteers to participate in the project are the largest group of health guidance, basically in line with the hospital volunteer service object’s (patient/family) main requirements.[5] Community volunteer service frequency and duration were higher than the medical volunteers.[6] Community volunteers, medical volunteers, patient/family who had received volunteer services are differences on the overall evaluation of the effect of hospital volunteer services. Three groups differ on hospital volunteer service management satisfaction evaluation. Medical volunteers of different gender, age, education, patient/family who had received volunteer services have the same evaluated statistically satisfaction within hospital volunteering.[7] Personal factors, organizational factors, the influence of external environmental factors on carrying out voluntary service in hospital were statistically significant.[Conclusion][1]Most of the respondents are having a highly cognition to a hospital volunteer service, they agree that to participate in volunteer on medical treatment of patients and hospital management brings positive results. They also consent that hospitals continue to carry out all kinds of support to help patients/families volunteer activities to improve hospital services. [2] One hospital established a regulatory framework for a hospital volunteer work to meet the daily operation, but in specific volunteer human resource planning, recruitment, training and guidance, supervision and evaluation, incentives and other aspects shall to be further standardized. [3] "voluntary service" urgently needs to develop national laws and regulations to protect the interests of all parties in order to stable the volunteers. [4] Lack of the effect of quantitative study for the volunteer service in hospital.Suggesting:[1] Carrying out a standardized and scientific volunteer service at the hospital, to some extent, can improve the experience of patients on medical treatment and meet their demands for non-medical services. [2] Should be using the Internet and other new media platforms, expanding hospital volunteer service by advertising and promotion to attract more outstanding volunteer resources join into the hospital. |
