Objective: To investigate the relationship between enzyme glutathione s transferase(GST) gene polymorphism and pregnancy exposured polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs) in cord blood of newborn and the occurrence of neonatal low birth weight(LBW)of Uygur and Han nationalities in Urumqi, analysis of possible environmental risk factors of pregnancy between Uygur and Han nationalities. Methods: Using case-control study to do the epidemiological survey through the questionnaire, collecting neonatal umbilical cord blood and extract DNA, Using multiplex allele specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR) analysis of GSTM1 and GSTT1 gene polymorphism method, using isotope dilution and high resolution gas chromatography / high resolution double focusing magnetic mass spectrometry(HRGC /HRMS) 7 polybrominated diphenyl ether monomer concentration method for the detection of neonatal umbilical cord blood(BDE-28, BDE-47, BDE-99,BDE-100, BDE-153, BDE-154, BDE-183), analysis and evaluation of the level of exposure. Results:(1) The influence factors of low birth weight of Han: before and after maternal pre pregnancy weight, pregnancy using coal stove, housing ventilation conditions, the number of household appliances; the influence factors of low birth weight of Uygur:the number of maternal pregnancy average daily time, on the road during pregnancy housing ventilation, the use of carpet.(2)GSTM1 gene polymorphism in the cord blood had no significant with low birth weight, low birth weight of Uygur is related to GSTT1 gene polymorphism, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The existence of GSTT1 genotype with missing genotype compared to reduce low birth weight occur danger(OR=0.017, P<0.01).(3) The content of PBDEs in umbilical cord serum is0.98-50.17pg/g, The content of BDE-153 was the highest, The content of BDE-99 was the lowest. There was statistical significance in Han nationality of different birth weight differences between the content of PBDEs(P<0.05).(4) The concentration of PBDEs waspositively correlated with use of coal stove and number of carpet using(P<0.05); The relevance of each are not identical between the 7 monomer and influence factors.(5)Regression analysis: After controlling the impact factors, When the concentration of PBDEs in cord blood is constant, it was no significant between polymorphism of GST gene and low birth weight; when GST gene polymorphism in the cord blood is constant, the higher concentration of BDE-183,the higher occurring risk of neonatal low birth weight of Uygur(OR=1.482,P<0.05).Conclusion:(1) The more use of household appliances, the higher risk of low weight birth of Han, the more the number of the Uyghur carpet using, the higher risk of low birth; both of which can increase the effects of PBDEs concentration in the indoor environment of birth weight of newborns.(2) GSTM1 gene polymorphism in the cord blood had no significant with low birth weight, low birth weight is related to the polymorphism of GSTT1 gene and the presence of GSTT1 gene type can reduce the occurrence of low birth weight neonatal compared to deletion genotype of GSTT1.(3) The content of PBDEs is different in different birth weight between ethnics, and the 7 monomer concentration of PBDEs is relation to low birth weight, concentration of BDE-183 is higher, and neonatal low birth weight of Uygur occur risk is higher.(4) The occurrence of low birth weight is caused by combined effect of many factors, therefore, in future studies, should be a comprehensive analysis of various factors, in order to fully understand the reasons for low birth weight, so as to improve the quality of newborn birth.
