Objective: Polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs)are widespread in China.Recent studies have demon sated widespread exposure to PBDEs among susceptible populations including pregnant women in some cities in China. But little is known about levels of PBDEs exposure in the population of Urumqi and Kuitun and its potential adverse health effects. Methods: We investigated both PBDEs exposure levels in umbilical cord serum and the effects of PBDEs exposure on fetal growth in Urumqi Kuitun and,China, enrolling 97 healthy pregnant women between March 2014 and June 2014.PBDEs exposure was assessed by a questionnaire administered to the mothers in the hospital after delivery as well as by analyzed nine PBDE congeners(BDE-1,BDE-15,BDE-28,BDE-47,BDE-99,BDE-100,BDE-153,BDE-154 and BDE-183)in umbilical cord serum.Medical records on birth weight, length, head and chest circumference were collected for the enrolled infants. Results: Umbilical cord blood in the bust and BDE-47(r = 0.225, P <0.05) have a negative correlation. Conclusion: Maternal serum and neonatal cord blood Urumqi and Kuitun areas prevalent PBDEs exposure. cord blood exposure to PBDEs may cause birth Bust reduced. So PBDEs exposure on birth outcomes deserves further attention. |
