Electromagnetic positioning/tracking technology applies the spatial distribution of an electromagnetic field to obtain the information of the target position and attitude. There is no radiation damage and no limitation of sight in this method. It is simple to operate and convenient for users. So it is widely used in medical devices, transportation, robot learning, military systems and wearable devices. This article is mainly for the algorithm development and system design of the electromagnetic positioning/tracking method.Firstly, we introduce several typical electromagnetic tracking methods and give a summary and comparison of different methods in this article. Most of them are limited by the complexity of the algorithm and there may be local optimum and easily defeated by external magnetic interference. Then we propose our new method and have a study of the electromagnetic tracking method based on two rotation magnetic coils. After that, we build the magnetic positioning system based on two rotation magnetic coils with a digital signal processor (DSP). Both stability and accuracy of the system have been conducted. According to the test results of the system, we introduce a magnetic dipole signal processing method based on signal fitting and a calibration method based on micro-motion platform to improve the accuracy of the system in this article. To further enhance the positioning speed of the system, we introduce and study on the scanning method based on electronic control system and phase detection based location method. We conduct the simulation experiment and design the model of the system.Through simulation and design of the actual system, it proves the efficient and effectiveness of the magnetic positioning algorithm based on two rotation magnetic coils. This algorithm is simple to compute and it has no local optimum. Also it has some anti-jamming capability. Through the algorithm and system optimization, location accuracy can reach millimeter level and the speed will reach second level.
