Objective:Determination of the activity of serum paraoxonase-1 (Pon-1) and level of homocy steine(Hcy), cholesterol, uric acid(Ua) in patients with vascular cognitive impairment without dementia(VCIND),in order to definitude the relationship between changes in activity of Pon-1 and levels of other biochemical indices and cognitive dysfunction, in order to provide objective measures of indicators for diagnosising VCIND early. Methods:The Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA), as well as Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE) and Clinical Dementia Rating(CDR), Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) were performed. All the patients divided into VCIND group and the control group according to the europsychological testing score.Correlation analysis of changes in PON-1 activity and other biochemical indices levels in patients with VCIND and neuropsychological testing scores. Results:The PON-1 activity and High density lipoprotein(HDL) level in plasma was significantly reduced in VCIND subjects as compared to normal control subjects as well as the Hcy level was increased. The other biochemical indices did not show any change in VCIND patients. The decreased PON-1 activity in plasma from the VCIND subjects showed a significant correlation with the declined the visuospatial execution ability and MoCA score, and HDL level from the VCIND subjects showed a significant correlation with the declined the visuospatial execution, name ability and MoCA score,as the Hcy level showed a negative correlation with the declined the visuospatial execution execute, name, attention ability and MoCA score.Conclusion:1. Serum PON-1 activity and HDL,Hcy levels showed a significant correlation with the incidence of stroke complicated by VCIND.Monitoring the three levels facilitate the screening and condition assessment of VCIND.2.Serum PON-1 activity and HDL and Hcy levels mainly affects visuospatial execution, is similar to the cognitive barriers characteristics. |
