The Research Of The Regularity And Characteristics Of Clinical Application Of Moxibustion On Different Disease Based On Data Mining Technique

Objective:By using data mining technique to set up literature database system;compiling and summarizing the suitable disease type, acupoint selection characteristics, treatment efficacy and superior treatment disease of mox ibustion; probing the regularity and characteristics of the clinical applicat ion of moxibustion, we can support the scientific decision to clinical dia gnosis and promote and apply the moxibustion in more cases.Methods:1 By integrating the character of moxibustion and the needling and moxibustion method database of fire needle, acupoint injection and application, catgut implantation at acupoint and pricking blood etc. we set up the moxibustion database platform and lay foundation for data mining.2 We select the journal literature as object of study and confirm the literature collecting scope first. Then we search, gather and compile the journal literature related to moxibustion from CNKI(from Oct 1949 to June 2012) as well as evaluate the literature with the established standards and extract the related information.3 According to the established including and excluding standards, we input the literature conformed to screen standard to the database following the normative and uniform standard. The moxibustion database includes article title, department, disease name, acupoint selection character and efficacy etc. We made pre-entry of parts of the literature to regulate input data and modified the incomplete and unscientific items with uniform standard. When finished the data entry, we applied strict 3 level audit system to ensure the accuracy and practicability of the data.4 The researchers confirm the preprocessed data of the moxibustion database as the target data and set the connections between moxibustio n and suitable disease type, disease and department, disease and moxibu stion method, disease and acupoint selection character, as well as diseas e department and efficacy etc. We adopt OLAP technique to conduct ex tensive study the database and finally show the results to researcher in charts and forms.5 We took the disease treated by moxibustion with frequency larger than 10 times and efficacy rate higher than the average rate of that de partment as superior treatment disease of moxibustion, analyzed the adva ntage of moxibustion when treating various of disease of different depar tments to evaluate the major suitable symptom and changing trends of c linical application of moxibustion.Results:We gathered 2516 pieces of literature in total and involved 193 kin d of disease of different departments. Analyzed by the frequency of mo xibustion used on treatment of disease, it is mainly used to treat interna l medical, surgical, Gynaecological and dermatologic disease, among whi ch up to 1107 times are used in internal medicine department, accountin g for 44.00% of the total frequency. In the next is 704 times to treat s urgical disease. When looking at the disease types, we found most of t hem are internal medical and surgical disease. There are 72 kinds of Int ernal medical disease, accounting for 37.31% of total disease types, and37 surgical disease, accounting for 19.17% of total disease types. Whe n looking at the acupoint selection method, most acupoint selection are based on dialetic method, whose frequency is 1534 times and has 57.17% popularity rating. proximal selection of points and focal point selecti on are in next place. The total efficacy rate of moxibustion treatment o n different department disease is high, say more than 90%. The total ef ficacy of pediatric and surgical disease are the best, say 96.13% and 95.48%. The cure rate of dermatologic disease is 69.25% and the second best cure rate of moxibustion is to treat pediatric disease, whose cure rat e is 68.80%. We took the disease treated by moxibustion with frequenc y larger than 10 times and efficacy rate higher than the average rate of that department as superior treatment disease of moxibustion. The 29 k inds of superior treatment disease of moxibustion are: facial paralysis, lu mbocrural pain, diarrhoea, herpes zoster, dysmenorrhea, Infantile diarrhea,cervical spondylosis,giddy, apoplexy sequelae, external humeral epicondyl itis, omalgia,bedsore,nasosinusitis, stuffiness in chest and abdomen, injury of the tissues, abdominal distension, uterine bleeding, singultus, cough, infertility, talalgia, large carbuncle, psoriasis, muscular rheumatism, Ptosis of the stomach,maibi, enuresis, headache and common cold. Among the se disease type, there are 12 internal medical disease, about 41% of tot al, 10 surgical medical disease, about 34% of total, 2 dermatology disea se, 3 Gynecological disease, Pediatric disease,Ophthalmology and Otorhin olaryngology disease to each one.Conclusions:The result of data mining indicates that moxibustion are widely used in acupunture therapy clinical application. The most used acupoint selection method of moxibustion is dialetic method, proximal selection of points and focal point selection are in next place. When look into the frequency of moxibustion used on treatment of disease, it is mainly used to treat internal medical, surgical, Gynaecological and dermatologic disease, while relatively less used to treat pediatric, Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology disease. The superior treatment disease of moxibustion are mainly belong to internal and surgical medical disease. For example, the internal surgical disease involves several organ system and the healing effect of moxibustion are especially good for sport injury disease of surgical department. It also can be used to treat skin disease psoriasis and herpes zoster as well as Gynecological disease infertility, dysmenorrhea and uterine bleeding. Moxibustion not only have good healing effects of common disease, but also play a key role in health protection. On the other side, moxibustion can be used both on sympotoms caused by cold factors and febrile symptoms.
