Background And ObjectiveCoronary artery bypass grafting has become the best solution for many coronary stenosis or interventional medical therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft higher incidence. AF increases morbidity and mortality mainly in three aspects:palpitations, increased discomfort and anxiety of patients; atrioventricular dyssynchrony contraction, resulting in hemodynamic imbalance, and even congestive heart failure; the left atrium blood stasis, leading to increased risk of thrombosis and stroke. Recent studies have shown that statins have pleiotropic effects, including anti-inflammatory effects and prevention of atrial fibrillation (AF). This study aims to assess the impact of coronary surgery before routine use of statins on the incidence of atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass grafting。MethodsThis is a retrospective study,221 cases receiving coronary artery bypass grafting because of acute myocardial infarction between August 2010 to June 2014 in our hospital was studied.14 cases were excluded because of preoperative atrial fibrillation,4 cases were excluded because of valve replacement. Patients were randomly divided into two groups, preoperative statin group (S group, n=77) and control group (group C, n=126). In addition, to investigate if the occurrence of postoperative atrial fibrillation as an independent predictor of postoperative outcome events. Patients were divided into two groups, postoperative AF group (AF group, n =54) and non-AF group (non-AF group, n=149). patient data was Collected and retrospectively analysed.ResultsThe overall incidence of postoperative atrial fibrillation was 26%. Compared to postoperative atrial fibrillation, statin group were significantly lower than the control group, (16% VS 33%, p value=0.005). Multivariate analysis showed that statin therapy ([OR] 0.327,95%[CI] 0.107-0.998, P=0.05) and age (OR 1.058,95% CI 1.004-1.116, P=0.035) were independent predictors of postoperative atrial fibrillation after CABG。ConclusionThe routine usage of statins before coronary artery bypass grafting can significantly reduce postoperative TC, LDL levels (P<0.05), and can effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative atrial fibrillation (P<0.05).
