Objective:In order to find out diagnostic clues of histopathology for pityriasis rubra pilari, the histopathological features of the disease were analyzed. Methods:The histopathological features of 32 patients with pityriasis rubra pilari, who were admitted into the dermatology department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University during 2012-2014, were conducted a retrospective analysis. The treatments of three adult cases with pityriasis rubra pilari were assayed by clinical follow-up.Results:(1)There were 20 males and 12 females among the 32 patients, with the ratio of male to female was 5:3. The youngest patient was only 2 years old while the oldest one was 71. The age of 8 case were less than 10 years old, 10 cases were between 10-40 years old,11 cases were between 40-60 years old, as well as 3 cases were beyond 60 years old. The average age of onset was 33.53 years old.(2)Among the 32 biopsies,25 cases appeared grain-like parakeratosis,32 cases appeared granular layer abnormality,31 cases appeared keratinocyte vacuolization,25 cases appeared dyskeratosis,3 cases appeared acantholysis,8 cases appeared liquefaction degeneration of basal cells, and 11 cases appeared infiltration of eosinophil granulocytes.(3)Three adult cases with pityriasis rubra pilari had achived good effects when they received acitretin treatment. Conclusions:Under the model of psoriasiform hyperplasia of epidermis,grain-like parakeratosis with abnormal granular layer may be a diagnostic clue of histopathology for pityriasis rubra pilari.
