| Objective:To evaluate and compare the clinical effect of laparoscopic and conventional surgery with radical resection for human hepatic echinococcosis. Methods: Clinical data of patients who had undergone radical resection of hepatic hydatid cyst from May2005to December2010. Parameters analyzed were operation time, blood loss, conversion rate, hospitalization, morbidity, mortality and recurrence rate. Results:No major blood loss and blood transfusion were needed. Postoperative hospital stay was significantly short in laparoscopic group than that in conventional group. The overall morbidity was6.5%(2/31) in laparoscopic and16.1%(18/112) in conventional group with statistical significance. Conclusions:Laparoscopic radical resection of hydatid cyst is safe and effective in carefully selected patients and provides shorter hospital stay, good cosmetic result, quicker recovery and less complication. |
