Objective: To observe the effectiveness of posterior decompression, fusion, pedicle screw systems fixation in the treatment of the seniordegenerative lumbar scoliosis with stenosis (DLSS).Method:From Oct.2009to Apr.2012,23patients with DLSS wereanalysed retrospectively in The First Affiliated Hospital of ChongqingMedical University, including9males and14females. All the patientswere underwent posterior decompression, fusion, pedicle screw systemsfixation. Visual analog symptom rating scale (VAS), Oswestry disabilityindex(ODI) and the Cobb angle on the lumbar coronal film were used forefficacy assessment. Results: All patients were followed up for6~23mouths, the meantime of (12.61±4.17) mouths. The mean preoperative VAS was(6.06±0.94), ODI was(64.17±12.96)%, Cobb angle was(23.94±11.4)degrees. The mean VAS was (2.22±0.88), ODI wa(s24.39±9.92)%, Cobbangle was (10.28±6.93) degrees at the last follow-up,the difference wassignificant compared with preoperative(P <0.05), the excellent rate of ODIwas83.33%. During follow-up,the height of disc space were not lost, Shift of interbody cages were no displaced, no case of internal fixationsbreakage and the rate of fusion for bone graft was100%.Conclusion: Posterior decompression, fusion, pedicle screw systemfixation is an effective surgical treatment for the senior DLSS.
