Objectives:To explore the treatment compliance and influential factors and to evaluate the effect of health education on treatment compliance in stable chronic pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.Methods:162patients with COPD were accepted in the sampling survey by questionnaire about the related knowledge and treatment compliance of COPD during stable phase.96COPD patients who were poor compliance randomly divided into treatment group (n=49) and control group (n=47). The treatment group received health education intervention for6months. The levels of awareness of the disease and treatment compliance were compared by questionnaire survey and follow-up observation.Result:40.7%of patients were on better level of treatment compliance. The result indicated that the influential factors of patient’s treatment compliance included the course of disease, respiratory rehabilitation training, the level of awareness of the disease, the doctor-patient relationship and the economic burden. After having health education intervention for6months, the compliance of the treatment group was significantly increased compared with the control group (P <0.05). The treatment group gained more scores of COPD disease-related knowledge than the control group (P<0.05). The doctor-patient relationship, periodic review and respiratory rehabilitation training showed significantly difference between groups (P<0.05). The frequency of acute exacerbation of the treatment group was lower and the difference was statistically significant between groups (P<0.05).Conclusion:The compliance level of the patients with COPD was on low-middle level. The major influential factors included the level of awareness of the disease, the doctor-patient relationship, the course of disease, economic burden and respiratory rehabilitation training. Health education can remarkably increase scores of COPD disease-related knowledge and treatment compliance. At the same time, Health education can improve the doctor-patient relationship, respiration rehabilitation training, control and delay the progress of the disease.
