Objective:To discuss the differences of the children and the adults’IM clinical characteristicsMethods:All the adults received in the First Affiliated Hospital ofChongqing Medical University during March,2011to December,2013.While all the children received in Chongqing Children’s Hospital.Retrospective analysis was made in409cases of infectiousmononucleosis(IM). According to the age of the cases divided in twogroups—the adults and the children. Parts of the clinical characteristicsneed divide the adults in seven groups:<17,17-19,20-22,23-25,26-31,>31.Results:In recent years, the adults have a rising trend.Children werealways the main and it’s peak age was under7years old(247cases80.7%),anther large percentage was from17to25years old in the adults.The adults and the children main clinical symptoms were similar, therewere fever, lymphadenopathy, sore throat and Splenomegaly. Average timeof fever in children was6.1days, the adults was12.2days. Fever and lymphadenopathy did not have obviously difference between the adults.The high-risk age of the adults with sore throat were17to22years old.Complication were abnormal liver function damage, blood system damageand bacterial infections. The adults’ annormal lymphocytes percentage>10%were significantly (68.0%),but WBC increased less obviously in theadults (57.3%). The adults with severe liver function (elevated ALT andAST>4times the normal value) more common.The adults’ detection rateof EB-VCA-IgM were lower.Conclusion:Most patients were children,especially under7years old.The adults increase gradually, adults’ peak ages were17years old to25years old, the typical symptoms: fever, sore throat, lymphadenopathy,Splenomegaly.The fever course of the adults were longer, annormallymphocytes percentage>10%and severe hepatitis were more appeared inthe adults. But more children appeared hepatomegaly and WBC elevatedwere obviously.
