| Objective: To investigate the difference of elderly bilateral carotidintima-medial thickness (intima media-thickness, IMT) and theirs correlation with thesmoking index. Methods:Random sampling method was used to select1818permanentresidents in Lvliang of Shanxi.,and it was uesed to investigate1818objects byquestionnaire survey, physical examination and Color Doppler ultrasonography.Basedon age,the residents were divided into55-59years old(508objects),60-64years old(476objects),65-69years old(370objects),70-74years old(238objects),≥75years old(226objects).Multielement stepwise regression analysis was uesd to analyzethe influencing factors of bilateral carotid IMTs.Results: Bilateral carotid IMTs became thicker with age, and the left carotidIMT was significantly thicker compared with the right. Multiple stepwise regressionanalysis showed that bilateral carotid IMT correlated with the age, genders, smoking index, blood pressure, instantly glucose and total cholesterol. Bilateralcarotid IMTs and smoking index have certain response relationship. Conclusion: The left carotid IMT was thicker than the right over55years agegroup. Bilateral carotid IMT correlated with the age, genders, smoking index, bloodpressure, instantly glucose and total cholesterol, and smoking index and the risk ofbilateral carotid IMTs thickening have relationship. |
