ObjectiveIt’s somewhat controversial of the anatomy and it’s morphologic of the glabellamuscles. The purpose of this study was to analyse the anatomy and it’s morphologicof the glabella muscles (the corrugator, the depressor supercilii and the procerus), Thelandmarks of the glabella muscles, including the length,width,and the wet muscleweight,were measured. Set up3d model simplely and quickly, positioning glabellamuscles clearly,to provide anatomy foundation for safety botulinum toxin-A (BTX-A)injection to correcting wrinkles in the glabellar area.MethodsAnatomic part:Anatomic dissections of20hemi-faces from10adult cephalicspecimens. Dissection layer by layer from skin to bones exposing the the corrugator,the depressor supercilii and the procerus,ues vernier caliper to measure thelength,width and other architecture of the target muscle. Then photographic retained.CT scan after artificial intervention of covering a material(adipose tissue) which withthe same shape,but the tissue density is higher than the surrounding tissue of the targetmuscle(the corrugator, the depressor supercilii and the procerus), then CT scan, set up3d model simplely and quickly, positioning glabella muscles clearly.Clinical part:64cases of patients with botulinum toxin injection, including48 cases of frown lines,16cases of wrinkles of nasal back. All patients had no paralysis,pregnancy, lactation, botulinum toxin type A allergy and systemic diseases.Botulinum toxin type A diluted with2.5ml0.9%of sodium chloride to theconcentration of4U/0.1mL. Cover the surface anesthetic injection30minutes. Allpatients were followed up for9months, to records of curative effect, effectiveduration, patient satisfaction and adverse reactions.ResultsAnatomic part:By dissecting, the morphological characteristics of the corrugator,the depressor supercilii and the procerus were displayed very clearly, the ralativeorientation parameters and the wet muscle weight were measured, and the3dvisualization model has been set up. The glabellar area expression muscle includingthe corrugator and the glabella depressor. corrugator can be divided into twocategories:1〠transverse2ã€oblique type, generally from the shape of theeyebrow can be identified. Among them, oblique type according to its shape can bedivided into: oblique single beam and the oblique beam type. The thickness of thecorrugator is1mm. The length of the transverse type is34.89±2.26mm,9.16±1.53mm wide; oblique single beam length of32.10±1.67mm,9.18±0.07mmwide; The length of the upper beam and the lower beam of the oblique type ismeasureed respectively26.38±5.48mm and37.02±1.66mm, width of4.68±0.97mm,9.64±1.56mm. The wet weight muscle of corrugator is(0.53±0.06) g. Thedepressor supercilii and the procerus were in the same level, both of them are inthe superficial layer of the corrugator and the nasal dorsal fascia,with the same muscle fiber direction,no obvious boundaries. The two had the same functions of caused brow ptosis and involved in theformation of nose stripes.This research tends to induce the two into the glabelladepressor, the main variations between individual facial expression are related to adifferent muscular anatomy from one subject to another. The thickness of the glabelladepressor was1mm. Length of31.59±3.31mm, width changed due to the different parts. The wet muscle weight of the glabella was (0.30±0.08) g.Clinical part: In64cases, the effective rate was100%,the obvious rate was95.31,work began2-3days after injection, wrinkles gradually disappear, skin became moresmooth before the injection, the best effect was up to2weeks after injection. Theeffective duration was maintained for about6-8months. The adverse effects was mild,including ecchymoma, local tension, eyebrow shape change.ConclusionsThe glabellar area expression muscle was the target muscle in the treatment of theglabellar wrinkle, this research has analysed the anatomy and it’s morphologic of theglabella muscles, measured the related architecture of the glabella muscles, and set up3d model simplely and quickly, It will provide anatomy foundation to propose a safeand reproducible injection point for botulinum toxin-A (BTX-A) to correcting notonly wrinkles, but also certain regional balances in the galbella rejuvenation.
