ObjectiveThis study aims to explore convenient and effective method of Combination therapy of traditional Chinese medicine in treating Cervical Headache (CEH).Methods80qualified patients from the orthopedic clinic of Guangdong Province’s Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital were rolled in study from Mar2013to Jan2014.40qualified random patients in the therapeutic group and40patients in the control group, pi zhen&herbs was applied in the therapeutic group, pi zhen was performed once a week,3times one case;In addition, herbs was performed once one day that should be lasted for3weeks. Manipulation&herbs was applied in the control group, manipulation was performed once a week,3times one case; herbs was performed once one day that should be lasted for3weeks as the same. All patients were scored via Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) before and after the treatment, as the same, VAS should be scored after3,7,14,21days. To evaluate the clinic effect, both group were measured by VAS weighting method after a period treatment, then the datum were collected and analysed with the statistical software of spss19.0.ResultsThere was no statistical significance(p>0.05) in general datum(include sex, age, period, pattern of syndrome) between two groups by means of statistical analysis with T test and Chi-square test. Compare with the total curative effect between the two groups:the total effective rate of the therapeutic group was97.5%, while the control group was92.5%;there was statistical significance(p<0.05)of their total curative effect after statistical analysis with T Test. Through comparing the two groups scores which were via Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) after the treatment, there were statistical significance(p<0.05). This clinical study has not occurred any adverse reaction and safety accident, an all patients followed up for one month have not found significant sequel.ConclusionsBoth of two groups were valid in improving the clinical symptoms of the patients suffering from Cervical Headache. And the therapeutic group was superior to the control group.
