ObjectiveComparison the effect of acupuncture plus ginger moxibustion between acupuncture singly. Through clinical trial find the best way to increase cure rate. Preliminary analysis acupuncture plus ginger moxibustion can play a significant effect of the possible mechanism of action.MethodsThere are60cases of the wind-cold type of peripheral facial paralysis, selected from the Acupuncture wards and outpatient departments of No.1Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in this research. The treatment group of30cases was treated with acupuncture plus ginger moxibustion, and the control group of30cases was treated with acupuncture singly.All of the selections were randomly and both of the treatments lasted for4weeks.After4weeks treatment, we compared the results of clinical symptom score, facial function improvement of the two groups before and after treatment.ResultsBefore the treatment of two groups, the comparison result of House-Brackmann scale (H-B scale) showed no significant difference by statistical analysis. After the treatment, the treatment group gives93.33%cure rate, and the control group gives80%cure rate, accompanied with statistical difference.Compare of House-Brackmann scale (H-B scale) of pre-treatment and post-treatment showed significant difference.(P<0.05)ConclusionThe treatment methods of the wind-cold type of peripheral facial paralysis by acupuncture plus ginger moxibustion and by acupuncture singly were able to improve the patients’ clinical symptoms.The wind-cold type of peripheral facial paralysis treats with acupuncture plus ginger moxibustion significantly better than the acupuncture singly, it is worthy and we call promote use it.
