Chapter1:Study of visual effects and quality of life withimplantation of multifocal intraocular lens and monofocalintraocular lensObjective:The purpose of the study is to evaluate the visual effects and quality of lifewith implantation of multifocal intraocular lens and monofocal intraocular lens. Methods:Retrospective observational case series.Phacoemulsification combined withIOL implantation was performed.43eyes of31patients taken implantation ofAcrySof ReSTOR+3D or+4D multifocal intraocular lens(multifocal group)and39eyes of31patients taken implantation of SN60wF monofocal intraocularlens(monofocal group) participated in the study. The information of uncorrecteddistance visual acuity(UDVA),corrected distance visualacuity(CDVA),uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA),corrected near visualacuity(CNVA) were recorded after3months postoperatively. And quality of lifequestionnaire survey was essential. The data of the study were estimated by theSPSS19.0through Independent samples T-test and Chi-square test. Results:The results of UDVA and UNVA in the MIOL were better than SIOL,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001,P<0.001); No matter for near orfar purpose the rate of spectacle dependence in MIOL was higher than SIOL.There was also no significant difference between the two groups in the otheraspects of visual performance questionnaire(p>0.05).Conclusion:Patients with the implantion of ReSTOR multifocal IOL can get excellent fullrange of vision and good visual effects. Lower rate spectacle independence andmore proper reading distance could be better to reflect the younger visual state ofpatients. Chapter2:Effect of refractive errors and astigmatism on visualeffects and quality of life in eyes with multifocal intraocularlens. Objective:Using the subjective and objective standards to evaluate the effect ofrefractive errors and astigmatism on visual effects and quality of life ineyes with multifocal intraocular lens. Methods:Retrospective observational case series.Phacoemulsification combined withIOL implantation was performed.43eyes of31patients taken implantation ofAcrySof ReSTOR+3D or+4D multifocal intraocular lens participated in thestudy. The information of uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA), correcteddistance visual acuity(CDVA),uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA),correctednear visual acuity(CNVA) and refraction were collected after3monthspostoperatively. And quality of life questionnaire survey was essential. The data of the study were estimated by the SPSS19.0through Mann-Whitney U test,Linearcorrelation analysis and Chi-square test. Results:The difference of UDVA and CNVA in the two groups was statisticallysignificant(P=0.040,p=0.022); There was also no significant difference betweenthe two groups in the other aspects of visual performance questionnaire(p>0.05).On the other hand, equivalent spherical degree with uncorrecteddistance visual acuity (UDVA) was positively correlated(r=0.358,p=0.018),correlation coefficient (r) between the postoperative residual astigmatism and theevaluation of visual function scores were not statistically significant (p>0.05).Conclusion:Postoperative residual astigmatism and refractive error have a certain extentinfluence on the patient’s vision, but there is no clinically significant correlationbetween the residual astigmatism and quality of life for patients withmultifocal intraocular lens. Some high astigmatism group patient still satisfiedwith the surgical results.
