Objective:Through comparison and analysis of the study group(the patients with chronic sinusitis)and control group(the patients with simple nasal septum deviation) of audiology, toinvestigate whether chronic rhinosinusitis can cause sensorineural hearing loss and analysisof relevant factors.Methods:82patients with CRS were selected and enrolled in the study group,21patients withsimple nasal septum deviation were selected and enrolled in the control group, all the patientswere hospitalized in the ENT department of the first affiliated hospital of Fujian medicaluniversity by the same medical group, from March2013to February2014.Compared andanalysised the characteristics of audiology tests, including pure toneaudiometric(PTA),acoustic immittance, middle ear muscle reflexes, distortion productsotoacoustic emission(DPOAE),and auditory brainstem response(ABR).The chronicsinusitis-related7factors affecting hearing tests were evaluated with binary logisticregression. And then we transacted the data with SPSS20.0software.Results:⑴.PTA results: The patients in the two groups with hearing loss were sensorineural.Therate of sensorineural hearing loss was24.39%in patients of study group, which were higherthan the control group(4.76%).There are75%high frequency hearing loss type in the patientsof study group, which of SNHL.⑵.Acoustic immittance and Middle ear muscle reflexes results: All patients in the twogroups of tympanic curves were A type, and stapedius reflex can be elicited. In study group, there are15%of patients with positive Metz recruitment in the sensorineural hearing losspatients.⑶DPOAE results: The detection rates of DPOAE were70.73%in patients of studygroup, which were lower than those in control group.⑷ABR results:All patients in the two groups ofABR test results were normal. ⑸7factors associated with sensorineural hearing loss had no obvious correlation.Conclusion:⑴.In this study, all hearing loss patients were sensorineural. The rate of sensorineuralhearing loss in patients of study group was higher than the control group. And all patients inthe two groups of tympanic curves were A type. Comprehensive analysis showed that chronicrhinosinusitis may lead to sensorineural hearing loss.⑵.In this study, all patients in the two groups of ABR test results were normal.Comprehensive analysis of the results of pure tone audiometry, DPOAE, stapedius reflex, showed that, chronic rhinosinusitis may lead to inner ear damage, injury site mainly in thecochlea.⑶.Chronic rhinosinusitis may lead to sensorineural hearing loss, which the specificways and mechanism need in the future in-depth discussion and research.
