With the wide application of the Liss plate and LC-DCP, blade plate and screw fixationare conventionally used in treating shaft fractures, so are the AF and RF Pedicle screwinternal fixation systems in treating thoracolumbar fracture. However, somecomplications have also accompanied with the constant increase of the clinicalapplication of internal osteosynthesis, and the screws are usually difficult to remove bytraditional approaches due to the damage of them has increasingly been recognized.During the surgical procedures, doctors are often confronted with the problems thatbone screws that had been retained in one’s body for too long time cannot be easilyremoved. It comes mostly from the screwdrivers skidding off the screw groove that hasbeen worn, or the screw being fractured during the operation. Doctors are often at a losswhat to do when facing this situation, and even lead to operation failture or re-fracture. Inour hospital, doctors often appeal to Medical Engineering Section for assistance whenfacing the above suitations, trying to remove the screw by drilling, digging or fluting thenut artificially. Though the problem could be sloved sometimes by these methods ofengineering, the risk of injuring the bone tissue again would also be increased greatly. In order to slove these clinical problems, we design and produce three suits ofremoving devices abide by the principle of accurate positioning and reasonable operating,which could help doctors remove the difficult bone screws that otherwise could not beremoved by conventional ways effectively without injuring the bone matrix, thendecrease the risk of surgery operation with satisfactory effects.The devices not only could resolve problems occurred during the surgery operationefficaciously, but also have some other advantages such as low-cost and easy to handlethat specialist could command the procedure of using the devices via minimal trainingwithin three minutes. It is therefore beneficial to apply in hospitals of various classes.
