This paper analyzed the necessity of developing post-harvest storage and transportation technologies of persimmon in Guangxi, which was based on the present production status of persimmon at home and abroad, especially the production status of Guangxi persimmon. The study investigated main technologies used for persimmon storage and transportation in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and summarized major limiting factors in the technology development, and offered the strategies and suggestions to accelerate the development of preservation technology in storage and transportation. Additionally, we have developed a new method to keep persimmon fruit freshness after de-astringency, that is, CO2 de-astringency with simultaneous 1-MCP treatment afterwards with vacuum package. Finally, we gained the following results and conclusions.1. The present storage and transportation technologies of persimmon fruit in Guangxi is difficult to meet the needs of industrial development. By studying relevant literature and combining with the actual situation of persimmon industry of storage and transport in Guangxi, we have summarized the following problems in persimmon post-harvest storage and transportation, such as:(1) The lack of storage awareness; (2) The lack of storage facilities that could not meet the need of persimmon industry; (3) The costs of storage facility construction and operation are too high for small and medium enterprises to maintain; (4) The preservation technologies are in low levels; (5) The packaging technologies are in low levels and vacuum packaging needs further development(6) The shelf-life of persimmon fruit is greatly influenced by transportation condition; (7) The shelf-life and the value of persimmon fruit are greatly influenced by de-astringency technology; (8) Storage and transportation technology system of persimmon are not completed.2. Strategies and advices are offered to develop persimmon post-harvest storage and transportation technologies in Guangxi, such as, (1) To improve farmers’the storage awareness; (2) To speed up constructions of storage facilities to meet the needs of persimmon; (3) To establish logistics information network of persimmon fruit; (4) To improve the persimmon preservation technology; (5) To improve the packaging technology level of persimmon fruit; (6) To develop new transportation system; (7) To further develop persimmon de-astringency technologies; (8) To develop the persimmon preservation industry and complete the storage and transportation technology system.3. According to the practical production, we have developed a new method to keep persimmon fruit freshness after de-astringency, that is, CO2 de-astringency with simultaneous 1-MCP treatment afterwards with vacuum package. This technique kept persimmon fruit freshness after de-astringency, and significantly prolonged the shelf-life of persimmon as well as maintained fruit commodity quality.
