| Roof greening can effectively improve and beautify the roof environment of city, which has great significance to improve the city image and especially plays an important role in alleviating urban heat effect. This paper use literature review, survey research, experimental research, and comparative analysis to research the applications of vine vegetables green roofs. This study use sample survey to research the green roof in Changsha. It selects three vine vegetables(balsam pear, lentils and towel gourd)as test material. Through using box type cultivation methods on the sixth floor roof of NO.11teaching building at Hunan Agricultural University, observer its growth adaptability, compare cooling effect of the roof,which is in order to explore the role of vine vegetables to improve the environment for the roof. The main results were as follows:1.There is a field sampling survey on Changsha roof greening. The survey shows that th e roof garden greening accounted for42.17%,"Garden+garden" combined roof greening33.73%, Roof garden greening16.87%, vegetation type roof greening7.23%. Based on the sur vey,101kind of plants are applied in Changsha roof greening, including26kinds of arbor,23kinds of shrubs,27kinds of vegetation,25kinds of vines. In addition, there are17kinds of vines in the productive roof garden mainly grow vegetables, which accounted for nearly50%of the total. There are11kinds of common vegetables,8kinds of ornamental vegetables. Ac cording to the survey, this paper concludes that the green roof is not yet universal in city Changsha, there is a big space fordevelopment. It also shows that vines, as a major specie of the application of roof green ing, is not prominent. It’s proportion needs to be expanded, planting technology needs to be i mproved and the management and maintenance needs to be strengthened.2. Racks were set on the roof, and planting vine vegetables on the roof by box-type cultivation methods. Bitter gourd, sponge gourd, lentils three kinds of vine vegetables which is selected for test, are all able to adapt to the growth environment of the roof and suitable for use as roof greening plant. It can also effectively improve the microclimate of the roof and can create a good landscape effects. In the early stage, bitter gourd and sponge gourd growth rapidly, large flowering, good growth potential, howere, in the late stage, these factors affected seriously by drought stress, lentils significant stronger in the drought tolerance than that of loofah.3.Vine vegetables coverage roof can effectively reduce the direct sunlight and have a significant of cooling effect. The cooling effect of loofah is best, and the higher temperature, the more obvious of the cooling effect. Loofah-coverage roof can cool up to8.7℃at12:00noon.4.Cultivation of vine vegetable at roof。loofah harvest8.24kg per carton, bitter Harvest carton6.18kg, lentil harvest2.82kg per carton, have certain economic benefits.Cultivating vine vegetables at roof can not only reduce heat radiation of the building roof, creat a good roof greening landscape and add recreational activities space and farming experience venue for the city. |
