In recent years, the process of urbanization in China has been accelerated. Andthe rapid development of urban construction and high density of population constantlydestroyed the ecological environment of the cities. Therefore, the improvement ofurban ecological environment is our primary concern without any delay. Roofgreening can just fill the gap. By the greening of the exposed roofs, we can greatlyincrease the forest coverage, improve the urban climate, relieve the heat island effect,and beautify our ecological environment. In sum, roof greening has become anirreversible tendency of landscaping and modern architecture development.The thesis centers around the application of roof greening technologies in TianjinBinhai New Area, aiming to find out the bottlenecks during the implementation ofroof greening project, analyze the possible causes, and summarize viable solutions.This thesis falls into three parts. Firstly, the thesis introduces background informationsuch as the concept of roof greening, its categories, ecological benefits and relevantresearch materials at home and abroad. It points out the significance of building roofgardens, for the purpose of improving urban ecological environment. Secondly,through case study method, the thesis focuses on feasibility analysis to the popularityof roof greening projects in Binhai New Area from the angel of technology and capital.Thirdly, based on research of several cases, the thesis helps to get better access to theapplication of roof greening projects in Binhai New Area, find out the existingproblems, and put forward rational suggestions.
