In Railway Engineering, sidewalk and cable trough cover plate as a subsidiary facilities, is mainly responsible for the crowd load, wheel loads of bridge inspection vehicle, and ballast load in maintenance and repair time. With the development of high-speed railway in our country, the cover plate has been made of reactive powder concrete (RPC), which replaces C40 concrete, the RPC cover plate have higher bearing capacity, it greatly reduce the bridge dead load, and reduce the installation difficulty. The RPC cover plate have great progress, but there are still problems,such as prick of steel fiber, rusty of steel fiber, corner drop block and surface crack.Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber has characteristics of high-strength and high modulus of elasticity, the fiber reinforced cement composites using PVA fiber has advantages of high tensile strength and high toughness. Especially, Engineered Cementitious Composites using PVA fiber, has characteristics of lage ultimate tensile strain, strain hardening, and multiple cracking.This paper refer to the design method of Engineered Cementitious Composites, through preliminary mix ratio design and optimum mix ratio design, we succesTJully achieve the high strength PVA fiber reinforced cementitious composite, which meet mechanical properties of railway cover plate, and we test the basic mechanical properties parameters of final mix ratio, and calculate the cost of raw materials, what’s more, we coMPare with the RPC material, then we form cover plate, and test bearing capacity; different cover types and three kinds of load was simulated by ANSYS finite element analysis software, and we optimizate the cover thickNess and cross-sectional shape. The results showed that, the high strength PVA fiber reinforced cement composite cover plate, not only meet the capacity requirements, but also have higher toughness and obvious price advantage, at the same time, we can improve the bearing capacity by increasing the thickNess and optimizing the section shape.
