Rotating seal’s arch failure is one of the major technical problems of rotary vaneactuator, which has an important influence on the internal leakage and external leakageof rotary vane actuator.By the simulation of rotating seal ring arch phenomenon, thecauses of its failure was found out.Based on the results of the analysis, anti archrotating seal ring was designed to increase the working pressure of rotary vaneactuator. In this paper, the rotary seals of the rotary vane actuator are taken as the researchobject, the main research is as follows.Firstly,on the basis of the introduction of structural features of rotary seals of therotary vane actuator, the sealing mechanism of rotary sealing was studied and thespecial requirements of sealing material of rotary sealing were discussed.Secondly, according to the characteristics of large deformation finite elementanalysis of the of hyper-elastomer,the2D and3D finite element models of therectangular rotating seals were established, the effects of the sealing clearance andpre-compressed ratio on the magnitude and distribution of contact pressure of therotating sealing surface were discussed. The arch deformation failure of the rectangularrotating seals during working was simulated and the failure cause was analysed. Finally, finite element models of the two composite rotary seals which havedifferent structure were established.the distribution and influence factors of the contactpressure were analysed, the U type composite rotary seal were tested and the expectedresults were obtained based on the prototype test bench.
