In order to improve the utilization rate of automobile engine fuel, and eliminate the idlestate, the hybrid electric vehicle has become the development direction of automobile. Themotor of hybrid car need working in two kinds of state, which is electic and power generation,it not only meets the requirements of high torque density in the state of automobile startingand climbing, but also can own steady voltage when it operates under wide speed. Thetraditional vehicle with electrical excitation claw pole motor has the defects of low efficiencyand large volume, it can not meet the requirements of hybrid vehicle. The hybrid excitationclaw pole motor has the characters of high torque density and wide speed range, etc. Byresearching on the hybrid excitation claw pole motors that have different structures, andcombining with the requirements of hybrid vehicle on the motors, the hybrid excitation clawpole motor that the power is2.5kW has been designed.The research in this thesis mainly completes the following contents:Firstly, the domestic and foreign research results of claw pole motor used in vehicle wassummarized, and three kinds of common structures of hybrid excitation claw pole motor wereconfirmed. Through comparing three motor schemes on the following aspects: the mechanicalstructure safety, processing technology, the motor magnetic circuit, the air gap flux density andthe motor efficiency, and combining with the application background of hybrid powerautomobile, then the model with PM between the claw was chosen.Secondly, because the structure of hybrid excitation claw pole motor is complex, thethree-dimensional finite element method was adopted in the motor simulation. In order tostudy the hybrid excitation claw pole motor theory and analysis method, at first, a motorscheme with smaller capacity was determined, then using the three dimensional finite elementmethod to analyze the prototype. The simulation mainly analyzed the magnetic fielddistribution under no-load, the output characteristic under power state and the output torqueunder electric state. Then the analysis method was optimized by comparing the experimentresults with simulation results.Finally, according to the research conclusion on the prototype, the2.5kW hybridexcitation claw pole motor was designed. Meanwhile, the designed motor was calculated by simulation method has been validated, and the motor model was optimized according to theanalysis of simulation results. In addition, the rotor mechanical strength under high speed wascalculated by Ansys. Ultimately, the motor stator and rotor size of2.5kW hybrid excitationclaw pole were determined.
